Chapter 20 | ❝ I wish... ❞
Wednesday, December 19th, 2018 - 2:59 p.m.
KELSEY EMOTIONLESSLY CLICKED the "next episode" button on her television. She was watching her comfort show, yet it gave her no comfort. After taking a look at the familiar intro of Stranger Things, she decided she finally had enough after watching Netflix in bed for two straight days. She turned off the television and flopped back down in her head, a blanket wrapped around her and her dog snoring beside her.
She grabbed her phone off of the nightstand next to her bed and checked her notifications. To her dismay, the only ones she had gotten were from Instagram, reminding her of a couple people who added to their stories, and a random game that stated she had not been online in quite a while. Kelsey let out a sigh and decided to mindlessly scroll through social media.
Kelsey swiped through her feed and then noticed how one particular account had not appeared as much as normal. With a confused expression spreading amongst her face, she typed in the username which belonged to her ex-best friend Lyla and tapped on her profile.
The three words, "User Not Found," caused a scowl to appear on Kelsey's complexion. She rolled her eyes and clicked away at the realization she had been blocked by Lyla herself. Kelsey had seen the account comment on other posts earlier that day. There was no possible way that it had been deleted.
"Petty witch," she muttered to herself, although the actual word she said began with a "b" rather than a "w."
Kelsey continued on with her scrolling as she attempted to ignore the thoughts that were being thrown at her. She already had enough guilt on her shoulders from the argument she and Zach had two days prior. Kelsey was unable to look him in the eyes after what she had said to him. She regretted every word, but Zach also needed a wake-up call in her opinion. The two of them were in a very tough spot.
A knock on the door spurred Kelsey to snap back to reality and address whoever was on the other side of it. "Yeah?"
"Hey, Kelsey," her father tentatively replied. "Can I talk to you? You've been in your room ever since you got home from school Monday."
"...Sure." Kelsey was hesitant, but there was no way her father would let her say no.
The door creaked open and Mr. Davis entered, shutting the door behind him. "Hey, Kelsey. Are you okay?" he asked despite already knowing the answer.
"I'm fine, Dad."
"Then why have you been in your room for so long?" he questioned in a matter-of-fact tone. "Your mother and I get that your mental health is important, but something is going on. What is it? You can talk to me."
