There was a knock on the TARDIS's door and the Doctor looked up confusedly. After Scarlet's death, he had left her in one of the bedrooms of the TARDIS, unable to come to terms with the fact that she was dead.
"How can that be?" He mused aloud, going to the door and pulling it open. All he saw was deep space, no one there.
"Hello!" He looked down to see a man hanging on to the ledge for dear life.
"Jack? What are you doing?" He demanded.
"I have mail. Can I come inside now?" The Doctor helped Jack in.
"Can't get in here with a vortex manipulator." He complaied, handing him a letter.
"What's this?" The Doctor demanded.
"It's from Cleopatra." Jack told him. He noticed the seal on the papyrus paper: the word 'scar' in Gallifryan. He opened the letter.

"My dearest love," the letter started.
"You have no proof this is me. I hope Jack giving it to you is enough. He tells me I am dead. You must be tearing yourself apart right now. I need you. Egypt is falling and they think I am still the queen. Silly me, always getting into trouble. Please, Doctor. And go check the back bedroom. I think you'll find the TARDIS has changed. Yours infinitely, Scarlet." The Doctor threw the letter into deep space.
"Scarlet is dead." The Doctor insisted. "It's a trick." He continued.
"Doctor, it was her. I know. She told me to tell you... locksmith." The Doctor's eyes widened.
"Oh, I love that woman. Scarlet!" He tore off towards the bedroom and found his soul mate laying on the bed still, but she was different. Dark black hair was shoulder length and thick, she had deeply tanned skin, and her eyes, which were now trained on the Doctor, were the same.
"I thought you were dead." He managed.
"As did I." She agreed. "Help me up." He obeyed, kissing her as she sat up. Jack cleared his throat.
"Not now." The Doctor said.
"Alright, well, I'll be off. Don't forget about ancient Egypt." Scarlet's eyes widened.
"Ancient Egypt? Let's."

(SCARLET'S POINT OF VIEW)

"What do you mean: I can't go! I'm not leaving your side." I insisted, stomping my new foot.
"Don't you dare stomp that foot at me, young woman! Maybe we should talk about how you're 710 and on your 12th regeneration!" He stormed.
"There was war, Doctor! And I'm not 710, I'm 943. We were in Academy together, idiot." I reminded him.
"Why would you lie to me?" He demanded.
"Because I don't want you to know who I am!" I didn't realize I was going to tell him the truth, so when it came out, I winced.
"Who are you?" He asked me.
"I think that's enough for today." I stepped away from him.
"Scarlet Smith, who are you?" He demanded.
"You'll hate me. You'll call me the worst things you can think of. You'll want to push me into the sun and never regret that one murder." I warned him.
"I want to know."
"I've killed billions. I'm a monster, Doctor." I tried.
"Who are you?"
"Amatis Genevieve Stokes." I relented. I saw him go numb. "My name burned across the stars, Doctor. And everyone hated me." He said nothing for several seconds.
"You're Amatis? All this time I thought it was a raving madman." He managed.
"It was always me. You and your stupid adventures. The time I went missing, Doctor? That was when I stole your ship and made the worst mistake of my life." He sat down on the stairs of the TARDIS.
"The Time War started because of you." He whispered. "And ended because of me. I suppose we fit together, then?" I was taken aback.
"You're not furious with me?" I asked.
"You made a mistake, Amatis. And I made a mistake." I shook my head.
"You only ended Gallifrey because I made it fall. I angered the Daleks. They declared war because I brought them back home." I argued.
"And now we're the only ones left. So what's the point in arguing? Lives are full of mistakes. Especially Time Lord lives. We're bursting with them. I can't hate you, Scarlet, because I love you." He declared.
"And now we have a civilization to save."
