...You sit on the edge of the roof, feet hanging off the sides and swinging back and forth as you stare up at the stars.
Eventually, your brother joins you. You don't acknowledge him until he speaks.
"I saw you rush out earlier, everything okay?"
"Yeah." Your voice is off.
Tony turns to look at you, his expression soft and concerned. "Hey, hey. I'm your brother. You know you can tell me everything."
You exhale heavily, still looking ahead as you give him a tired, wry smile that doesn't quite reach your eyes. "I know."
Tony pulls you into a side hug. "Then why won't you tell me what's wrong?"
You stiffen at his touch but relax, leaning your head on his shoulder as the both of you look out at the New York cityscape. You're silent a moment, deliberating what to say. Finally, you choose, landing on, "You have Pepper."
Tony nods, rubbing your arm as understanding fills him. "You're lonely."
"Yeah, kinda. I mean, you have Pepper, Clint has Laura, Thor has Jane, Nat and Bruce have each other, Steve has Bucky, Wanda has Vision and vice versa, my team leader and May have each other, Jemma and Fitz have each other, Mack and Yo-yo have each other, Bobbi and Hunter, even Daisy and Daniel. I'm the only person without... someone."
"That's not all of it, though." Posed as a fact, stated as a question.
"No." It's barely a whisper. You sigh softly. "I'm not mad at Daisy, but I really wish I were her. She always gets the guy—first Lincoln, then Daniel. And... I really want to find someone. But I should know better than to hope someone will ever want to find me."
Before a very shocked Tony can respond, you've shrugged his arm off and head down to your room, alone--as always.
