You stand by the machine that you had worked so hard to help build. Your husband stands by Nat, and all of the Avengers line up at their spots.

You hold your two-year-old on your hip, and tell her, "Do you want to see a magic trick?" At her nod, you continue, "Daddy's going to disappear for a few seconds, and then he'll be back."

She looks at her father, eyes widening. Clint waves, then nods at you.

"Okay. Going quantum in five, four, three, two, one," you call out in a firm voice, a far cry from the fear welling up inside you. What if this doesn't work? What if they die? What if, in reversing it, they kill my kids?

You press the button on 'one' and they disappear—causing your two year old to begin to wail. You bounce her on your hip, shushing her, as you count down again mentally. Five. Four. Three. Two. One.

You press it again, and voila, they appear. Unfortunately, this doesn't stop your toddler from her tears, but Clint seems oblivious. Nat's absence causes realization to dawn, but you try to assuage it. She's just late, she set it for the wrong time—she'll be back in a second.

But as your husband sinks to his knees, the truth weighs on you. You run to the podium, not caring about equipment or anything. Tears run down your cheeks as you pull him up.

He hugs you, his own tears mingling with yours as they fall. Loss fills Steve's eyes as he realizes that his wife is dead, the pain adding on to the weight of this mission.

You look over to Steve, wanting to comfort him but knowing there's no way to. Actually, Clint is better suited for it, seeing as how he lost his first wife five years ago. Then again, he didn't handle it well—at all.

As you look around at the varying reactions, you notice Bruce. Oh shit. The last he was here, Nat was using her affection for him to try and get over Steve. He was bound to be hurt in the process, but Nat didn't completely realize how much she was using him. Steve did the same to Sharon, but it turned out okay, at least. Now? They had finally admitted their feelings, then married, and had lived happily for a couple on the run. But Bruce had been gone for all of that, and was still probably in love with her.

Your suspicions are confirmed later at the dock when he does the most Hulk-like thing yet since turning into Professor Hulk; yeeting a bench across the lake. You rub Clint's shoulders as you sit there, you and Tony having left Morgan and your daughter with Cassie. Thor holds out hope to get Nat back; Clint seems to know, not just think, but know that that isn't an option. And it hurts. Your best friend and the person you called a sister, gone, never to return.

The group eventually puts all the stones in the gauntlet. The facility goes on lockdown, and everyone is protected as Bruce snaps.

Power surges and he cries out in pain, but it fades away. Clint's phone begins to ring and he answers it.

"L- Laura?" He answers, shock and happiness evident on his face. A bittersweet pang of loss courses through you as you realize that Laura Barton, as well as Clint's older kids, have been brought back. You're happy for him, for them—you would never wish death upon innocents—but it also calls into question what will happen. Both of you are married to the man, both of you share children with him. What do we do now?

You don't have a chance to ask, much less discuss it, before everything explodes and suddenly you're underwater. Y
