He mindlessly wipes the rag over the counter while staring off at nothing in particular.
He's lost.
Lost and he doesn't know how to get back to how it was.
He had already cleaned up breakfast before he even took it in to her.
His stomach growls and gargles at the smell of the food he had cooked and planned to share with her, but he couldn't bring himself to do so.
Draco is unsure how they will recover from this.
Will they ever?
How do people do it?
How do they come back from almost having happiness they found was ripped from them before they could even enjoy it?
"Draco..." Her quiet meek voice calls out to him and he finds her standing there with the tray- weakly shaking with the tray still full of all the treats he made her and the drinks floating behind her before setting themselves on the counter.
"Is it not good? Do you want something else?" He asks hurt that his sweet attempt at caring for her failed.
Her bottom lip quivers and her eyes well with tears.
"I don't feel good..." She tries not to give in, but she sobs any how- her emotions thoroughly fucked with from her body still having levels of HCG in them.
"Okay...alright. Here, let me take that." He sets the rag down on the counter and goes over to her, taking the tray and sitting it right in the big fridge. Going to her, he rubs her back as she pushes into him. Resting her face on his chest, her hands bunch up his shirt in her fists. "I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."
"It hurts so bad..." She cries into his chest.
"Let's get you back in bed and I'll brew you so Living Death to help you sleep. Alright?" Nodding, she holds onto him as he leads her back to the bedroom. When they get in there, he pulls back the covers and helps her in. She lays down and as he goes to leave, he notices how distraught she is.
I have to stop leaving her alone.
But it hurts to be near her after all of this.
"Do you want me to stay?" He asks and she knows he doesn't want to be there based on his aura. She sadly shakes her head and he's about to leave when he stops himself.
Sometimes what we need, isn't necessarily what we want.
He remembers his mother telling him that once when he was little.
He crawls into bed and she looks at him confused as he rolls her onto her side and spoons her.
"You don't have to..."
"You need me so...I'm here." They lay there for hours- every so often she curls her body up in pain and he just continues to hold her. He doesn't want to just lay around in bed all day, but at the same time he doesn't feel like doing much.
"You don't need to stay here- I know you need to check in on the Pub." Hermione says after half an hour of laying there.
"The Pub is fine. Rod and Hines have it." He softly says.
"I...I just don't want you to waste your day." He's had it. Sitting up a bit- he forces her to lay on her back and he looks down at her, cupping her face with his hand.
"You are not wasting my day. You are my wife and I'm here for you because I want to be- not because I have too." He says a bit angry with her. "Darling, I know I've driven doubt into you by leaving and last night...I love you- I don't want you to doubt that. I...I just don't know what to do."
