Two Weeks Later
It was hard.
Going to work and being stares at and accused of tyranny.
Hermione hated it.
Hated it with a passion.
But what was she to do?
All she ever wanted was to make a difference for the better good.
But day after day.
Year after year.
More and more arsehole politician men treat her like shit.
It stresses her out and because of that stress- she has been moody and ill for nearly two weeks since it happened.
Draco has noticed this. He has noticed her shifts in her moods and how snippy she can get when he's joking around with her.
Yet he doesn't hold it against her.
He can't.
Between quickly grabbing all her things from Gavin's- which was a shit show for them both despite Gavin not being present- and now Lord Baker at the Ministry spreading horribly accusations against her and Draco: he doesn't blame Hermione in the slightest for feeling angry and upset and frustrated.
Coming out of the Ministry building today, Hermione is about to aparate home, when she spots Draco leaning against a light post. Smiling, she looks both ways before jogging across the street to him.
"Hi!" Throwing her arms around him, she kisses his lips and his hands rest on her hips. "What are you doing here?"
"I thought today would be a beautiful day to get married."
"Today?! But...but I'm hardly dressed and not prepared, so..."
"Darling- we're eloping. It's supposed to be spontaneous and fun." He happily says as he plasters her neck with small butterfly kisses.
"You're right...right. I can relax and be spontaneous..."
"You good? You need any more pep talks?"
"No! I'm good. Really." Taking his hand, they look around before aparating. Popping up outside a smaller courthouse, Hermione looks oddly at Draco and doesn't understand where they are. "Draco..."
"I've arranged everything. Don't worry."
"I thought you said this was spontaneous?"
"It is...but there are still rules to follow." Smirking, they head inside and through the tiny entrance hall to the main lobby.
"When was this place built?" Looking at the very old infrastructure- and hardly cleaned decor- Hermione feels as if she walked into the shrieking shack that was turned into a very sad and small courthouse.
"A very long time ago, Love." He says before turning his attention to a very small and very old woman. "Afternoon, Ma'am. We're here to see Judge Julius Breckard."
The near pale blue haired woman looks up from her reading materials. Her old wrinkled skin drooping downward as she studies Hermione and Draco. Standing up without a word or even a sigh- she walks around the desk and gestures for them to follow. She is no taller than a common house elf and moves rather slowly- due to her age most likely.
Leading them down a very short dark hallway, she opens a single door on the left of the building and allows them to enter.
"Why do I get the feeling this elopement is going to be illegal?" Hermione quietly asks out the side of her pursed lips.
