chapter twenty two.。☆✼★━━━━━━━━━━━━★✼☆。
A FEW DAYS AFTER MASON LOCKWOOD'S ATTEMPT TO MURDER THE SALVATORES, the mayor was hosting a charity event, and Harper had promised Elena and Bonnie she would help them decorate.
Harper was planning on telling them about her and Damon at some point that day, but the only problem was that even she didn't know what to call it. She wasn't sure if she could say Damon was her boyfriend, but she didn't know how else to describe it. She figured she could just drop the bomb at some point and hope that it didn't bounce back at her.
"Hey, guys, sorry I'm late. I've been trying to get ahold of Noah the entire morning. He was gone when we woke up and my dad was all freaked out about it." Harper explained as she approached Elena and Bonnie with a small sigh.
"Oh, he's with Jeremy, they were at my house this morning when I left." Elena explained, causing Harper to sigh out in relief.
"Great, thanks, Elena." Harper replied, sending her a grateful smile, which she returned quickly. "Bonnie, how are you? I feel like we haven't talked in forever." She greeted Bonnie, who nodded slightly as she grabbed a few candles out of the box on the table.
"Fine, just... Busy." Bonnie replied, causing Harper and Elena to exchange knowing glances.
"Caroline's not coming." Elena spoke up, knowing that was what had Bonnie all tensed up.
"Just making sure." Bonnie replied, feeling slightly guilty about her ongoing fight with Caroline. Harper understood why Bonnie was distancing herself, but she also felt bad for Caroline, considering it wasn't her fault.
"You know, eventually you're going to have to talk to her." Elena pointed out, putting the candles in a few holders.
"Could you make it a little less obvious that you're on her side?" Bonnie retorted, causing Harper to scoff quietly.
"Bonnie, we aren't taking sides. In fact, there are no sides at all. You two just need to figure this out before it really drives a wench in the friendship." Harper explained, watching as Bonnie nearly rolled her eyes at her words.
"Oh, come on. Since Caroline became a vampire, we barely see each other. Losing Caroline was bad enough, I didn't think I was going to lose you guys, too." Bonnie replied, causing Harper's face to fall slightly, feeling a bit guilty for not hanging out with her.
"Come on, let's go some place quiet. The three of us need to talk." Elena offered, causing Harper and Bonnie to nod slightly, following her across the grass.
As they walked over to a bench in the middle of the bit of land surrounding the pond on the estate, Elena explained everything to Bonnie. Mostly how Caroline had turned and how Katherine was making everything incredibly complicated with her and Stefan.
