chapter four.。☆✼★━━━━━━━━━━━━★✼☆。
THE NEXT DAY WAS THE ANNUAL FOUNDER'S PARTY, and Harper had made plans with Bonnie and Elena to meet at the Lockwood mansion.
So, she made her way to the mansion alone, wearing a mid-length red tulle dress paired with black heels. As she made her way inside, she realized that almost everyone else had brought an escort. She didn't mind walking in alone, but it definitely was something she thought about in the back of her mind as she looked around for Bonnie and Elena.
Harper found Bonnie sitting over at a table alone, with Elena nowhere in sight.
"Hey, Bon, where's Elena?" Harper asked as she sat down beside Bonnie, whose face immediately washed over with relief at the sight of the blonde.
"With Stefan." Bonnie replied, which caused Harper's eyebrows to raise slightly. "It's okay, though, because you're here now. What took you so long, anyways?" She asked, wondering why Harper had shown up a little late to the event.
"I lost track of time while getting ready." Harper replied honestly, earning a quiet laugh from Bonnie, who knew that was something Harper did often.
"Ladies, sitting alone, are we? Why the somber faces?" Damon approached them, eyeing them a bit as he noticed they were sitting alone.
"Actually, we were enjoying ourselves until you came over here." Harper stated simply, her eyes meeting Damon's, who was a bit taken aback by her statement.
"Care for a dance?" Damon asked suddenly, causing Harper to raise her eyebrows slightly, glancing over at Bonnie who shrugged a bit, not knowing why he was even talking to them at all.
"I guess so." Harper muttered, standing from the table and sending Bonnie a quick, tight-lipped smile before following Damon out to the dance floor.
"You know, you make it quite obvious you don't want to be around me." Damon stated once they were out on the dance floor, his arms snaking around Harper's waist as she gingerly wrapped hers around his neck.
"I barely know you." Harper replied truthfully, not understanding why Damon was taking this so seriously. It's not that she hated him, she just thought he was odd.
"You're right, you don't. Actually, I don't know you, either." Damon replied, his mind traveling back to the question that was still unanswered. "Tell me about your family." He added, wondering if maybe her family had witch history that he knew of. He knew a lot of lineages of witches due to how long he had been a vampire for, so he figured if she was a witch, he would know.
"Uh... I have a younger brother, Noah. My dad's pretty involved, I guess. My stepmom, too." Harper explained, trying to keep her detail to a bare minimum, considering she was still skeptical of trusting him at all.
