THE NEXT MORNING, Harper woke up, immediately realizing that she must have fallen asleep while Damon was there. She felt slightly embarrassed, but she told herself that he probably didn't care anyways. So, she stood from her bed, glancing at her phone, which showed just about a million missed calls from Elena.
Harper sighed out quietly, about to call her back, before she realized that there was someone else she needed to talk to first.
So, Harper quickly got dressed, shoved her phone in her back pocket, and headed downstairs where she knew her dad would be.
"Dad?" Harper asked carefully as she walked in the living room, causing her dad to turn his head towards her, a small smile on his face from where he was sitting.
"Hey, Harper, how was the Halloween party at school?" Mr. Davidson asked, causing Harper to smile slightly, nodding her head a bit as she walked over and sat down beside him on the couch.
"It was fine." Harper replied simply, watching as her dad turned the tv off, turning his body so he could face her. "I need to ask you something about my mom." She added, causing her father to inhale sharply, nodding a bit.
"Okay. What's up?" Her dad asked, even though he figured he already knew the answer.
"Was she... Different?" Harper asked, earning a look of confusion from her dad. "I've been experiencing things. Weird things." She added, causing her dad to nod slightly, realizing exactly what she meant.
"Your mother was so special. She meant the world to me." Mr. Davidson began, preparing himself for the talk he was about to have with his daughter. "You look exactly like her. I knew you would inherit her... Trait. She had powers, Harper. She could take elements and make them do whatever she wanted them to." He explained, causing Harper to nod eagerly, even though Damon had basically told her the same thing last night. She knew her father didn't need to know that, though. He would have an outright fit if he knew a boy was in her room, especially Damon, for half of the night.
"I can move water and create fire. I figured that out these past few weeks." Harper admitted, a sheepish smile growing on her face as her father chuckled a bit, nodding slightly.
"When your mother would argue with me, sometimes she would get so upset she would set things on fire. She learned how to control it, though, for the most part." Mr. Davidson explained, causing Harper to furrow her eyebrows slightly.
"How did she control it?" Harper asked, causing her dad to sigh out quietly, leaning back in the couch a bit.
"You'll have to figure that one out on your own, everyone is unique, according to her. She didn't want this for you, but... I'm here for you, alright?" Mr. Davidson reassured his daughter, not wanting her to think he would ever abandon her.
