Meanwhile, Song Anyue went to the coffin house with her uncle. Inside, the reason they came was presented to them on a silver platter. The lid of one coffin has been lifted, revealing the well preserved body inside.
The man lying there wore pure white clothes, he had beautiful silky black hair and a kind, yet troubled face. His eyes couldn't be seen, as he wore a cloth wrapped around them. The reason? Of course, there were no eyes there. But Song Anyue could admire them in her uncles face, she found that fact very creepy. When she added them to the image, while imagining his pale lips had more color, she could tell he had to be a charming, beautiful young man. A shame they never got to meet in person.
Song Anyue smiled and lightly touched the hand of the man inside the coffin. Despite it being cold, the gesture felt strangely comforting to her.
"Uncle," she exclaimed with a mischievous tone a second later, Song Lan knew what was going to happen next and if he could, he would smile, as the girl didn't change at all, but his face was stuck in place, so he could only mentally prepare himelf for her question.
"Was he a friend, or an uncle?" asked the girl with a smirk and if he had any color to gain, Song Lan would've grown 50 shades of red faster than one could blink. He, however, was a fierce corpse and thus, he stood there instead. The tiny changes in his expression were thankfully enough for Song Anyue, she she wholeheartedly laughed and said: "Uncle Xingchen! Nice to meet you!"
Song Lan could not take her teasing for long.
You have not changed at all, full of mischief! he wrote on the ground.
"I know," the girl continued laughing, "but I'm not making fun of anyone. On a serious note, I am truly sorry, uncle. I know I should've done things differently... after the whole... thing... was over, I thought you'd be disappointed in me, if I showed up, so I didn't look for you. If I had, maybe everything would be different... and I could've met uncle Xingchen in person..."
Song Lan was surprised to hear her be semi serious in her last claim.
You wouldn't be against that relationship? he asked, he also remembered how he used to have a relationship with one of his shijies... Song Anyue was very much against it, being the little demon she was, she refused to eat with him if she was present and she would often disrespect the poor girl. At first, Song Lan was angry at her, but than he remembered that as he was the only father figure in her life, his partner would automatically be a mother figure to her... and well, this shijie was never really good to Song Anyue, so he broke up with the girl. It indeed was a huge scandal (in the temple that is) basically everyone saw it as him spoiling his niece, but truth be told, she was his closest family. And he didn't want to risk losing her over a relationship that, in retrospect, probably wouldn't have worked. And so, Song Lan never entered a relationship in his life, that was until Xiao Xingchen showed up. And everything changed.
"I know what you're thinking about," chuckled the girl and she sat on top of the coffin, "I've only heard nice things about him. So I'm okay with it as long as you're happy uncle. I always blamed myself for stealing this from you... so don't feel like holding back in any department because of me."
"Altho," she continued with a sad sigh, "that all doesn't really matter now, does it?"
"You know... it just might," surprisingly, Fox spoke up out of nowhere, "my grandma used to mess with human souls, she might be able to repair that mess Xue Yang gave you."
Both cultivators were shocked speechless.
"You're serious," Song Anyue made sure."Yes I am," rolled the demon his eyes, "oh don't look at me like that, I have no idea how to get you two into the demon realm."
