"We've been traveling for so loooong, my back is starting to hurt from all the sleeping on the ground," pouted Wan Yunque. It was around the middle of the day and they were currently heading to Qinghe. And it was taking far too long for the girls liking.
"This ghost sure likes to give us a hard time," mused Song Anyue, "hey, maybe we could enlarge Fox and he could carry us!"
"Over my dead body," replied the demon in question with an absolutely scandalized face. He was currently being carried by Song Anyue, who was clearly displeased at this arrangement.
"Your dead body it is! I've been carrying you since we left the Could Recesses!" she told him, but didn't make any move to set him down.
"Tsk! You're just saying that! Without me, you would be powerless," said Fox with a sly smile and started wiggling to get more comfortable. That was a bad idea, because the sleep deprived, grumpy Song Anyue with a hurting back was having none of it and simply let go of him, letting Fox hit the ground rather mercilessly.
"Hey!" spat Fox, angry.
At that moment, they heard a chuckle from the front.
"Serves you right," tells Wei Wuxian Fox and he chuckles again at the fox's angry expression, which this time fails to make anyone scared.
"Yeah! Don't think you can just use A-Yu as a pillow all the time," chimes Wan Yunque in, "only I can do that."
After she adds that, she leans on the poor girl and Song Anyue immediately joins Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji in the front.
"I would have left you two alone, but I don't want to kill anyone today," she proclaims right after.
"Huh, than you would like some extra work?" teased Wei Wuxian.
"... I mean, if it involves almost killing Fox... and suicide..."
"A-Yu noooooo!" everyone groaned at the same time and Song Anyue started laughing. It was nice.

Soon they saw a town in the distance.
"Yes! Food!" exclaimed Wan Yunque.
"The last one there orders!" laughed Fox and immediately ran of, followed closely by Wan Yunque.
"You're not joining them?" asked Wei Wuxian, when Song Anyue didn't make any move to run after them.
"I'm still angry with them," she shook her head, "and the last one there is going to be Hanguang-jun anyway."
The last part was whispered and got some laughter out of Wei Wuxian.

The city was more of a town, or a village actually. It was pretty small, with only one main road, full of shops, restaurants and outside vendors. As they neared the village, sword spirit made a small restless movement, alerting Lan Wangji.
"We stop here," he said and showed the moving pouch to everyone else.
"Hm... let's split up," nodded Wei Wuxian, "you three go around the outside vendors. Ask about any unusual events-"
"That involve ghost, corpses, creepy stories and so on. It's not our first time accompanying you around," finished Wan Yunque for him.
"Why don't you get going than, if you know everything so well," smirked Wei Wuxian, "I'll be right there with Lan Zhan, if you run into any trouble."
And than he pointed to a nearby shop, that was oh so accidentally a shop with liquor.
"Hey! That's unfair, you just want to drink," pouted Song Anyue and she gave her teacher an unimpressed look.
"Oh nooo... I would neveeeer," Wei Wuxian made a terribly fake hurt noice, but than he continued with a teasing smile on his face, "well, you're gonna have to wait till you're the master to make a plan. Besides, since when are you jealous of people drinking?"
"Oh I'm not jealous of you drinking," Song Anyue quickly shook her head and made cross signs with her hands, "but if anyone gets drunk it'll ruin anything left of the day."
Before Wei Wuxian could answer, Wan Yunque decided to interfere:
"Oh! And you should give us some money! Nobody is going to tell us a thing if we just stand around and ask questions."
"Wha- and now you openly ask for money? Do you want to just steal everything from me? You should have more care for your poor master," fake offendedly said Wei Wuxian.
"True, he's too broke, looks like we'll just have to steal someone elses, like the old days," shrugged Song Anyue.
At that, Lan Wangji, visibly displeased, pulled out three pieces of silver and gave each of them one.
"H-hanguang-jun! Don't spoil them!" Wei Wuxian said surprised, but the man was already turning around and entering the restaurant.
"Well, now you have money... go on, get to work," shooed them their teacher right after and followed Lan Wangji.
"We actually got money..." blinked Wan Yunque.
"He's actually not that bad," laughed Fox, which was somehow muffled by him holding the piece of silver in his mouth. His statement earned him raised eyebrows from the other two and disappointed looks.
"So money? That's how easy it is to get to you," shook Song Anyue her head in disbelief.
"Not like you have any," rolled the demon his eyes.
