Lan Wangji was surprised to find the bed empty when he woke up, but his surprise quickly went away in exchange for a bit of amusement, when he walked into the next room and found some tired demonic cultivators, who tried to fall asleep again, after being rudely woken up by the bells. Which was a comically complicated task.
He decided to leave them to it and went to get breakfast.

The four new inhabitants of jingshi finally went out when it was nearing midday. Both Wan Yunque and Song Anyue looked messy, with their hair in disarray and a tired look in their eyes. While Fox was definitely presentable and Wei Wuxian... well, let's not talk about that too much...
none of them had any breakfast whatsoever, so they were fairly hungry.
"Mmmh... master Wei, do you think they'll give us anything edible?" asked Wan Yunque, as she slowly rubbed sleep form her eyes.
"This is the Cloud recesses, it doesn't contain edible things," replied Song Anyue instead, "except for nuts..."
"Don't be so rude, you're a guest here now..." reprimanded her Wei Wuxian.
"More like a prisoner of Hanguang-jun," mumbled Song Anyue, grumpily.
"She didn't sleep enough again," told everyone Fox matter of factly and than asked, "so what now?"
"Hm... I'll probably go and try find the jade pendant," said Wei Wuxian, thinking.
"We all should try that," nodded Wan Yunque, "me and A-Yu could try and go bother the Un-Lan Lan and Lan Sizhui..."
"True, just make sure you steal it near the outside or something, so that we can make it seem like the pendant was lost afterwards," told her Wei Wuxian.
"And what about me?" huffed Fox.
"You should go with master Wei," told him Song Anyue and than leaned down to whisper in his ear, "I have a feeling we might get some good Wangxian."
And since Fox didn't argue with that logic, they parted ways and Song Anyue with Wan Yunque went to find the objects of their torture for the day.
"Oh man, I kinda don't wanna do this," mumbled Song Anyue, as they strolled through the place.
"Why? Because you don't want to steal from your crush?" teased Wan Yunque.
"You're the one to talk! I saw you with Sizhui!" replied Song Anyue while turning the slightest shade of pink with a scandalized look on her face.
"Well... I don't try to bite the people who notice," told her Wan Yunque with a half shy, half teasing tone, "admit it!"
"Well, I am trying to get rid of it, no need for that type of... stuff..." said Song Anyue with an unreadable expression.
"That... doesn't make any sense," nudged her Wan Yunque.
"It doesn't have to. It's more important that you are crushing on a Laaan! And probably the most perfect Lan of this generation by their standards," smirked Song Anyue.
"Hey! Not fair!" reddened Wan Yunque, "but can you blame me? I mean have you SEEN him! And he can fly on the sword and the SMILE!"
"Pffft! Don't shout it so loud, he could hear you," laughed Song Anyue and Wan Yunque's face immediately reddened.

"I think I'm gonna ask them for more nuts," continued Song Anyue, when she felt like stopping her laughter.
"Do you think they'll have some?" wandered Wan Yunque, but this conversation didn't have the time to reach it's end, because they finally found who they were looking for.

The two were both standing in front of a building that seemed oddly familiar, but than again Cloud Recesses looks the same no matter where you are.
The girls almost missed where the objects of their search were, since there were like 10 more, to the smallest bits same looking, disciples a few seniors (judging by looks...) and, low and behold the one and only Lan Qiren!
"Ooooooh~ we'll definitely get out of here if we annoy him!" smirked Wan Yunque devilishly.
"True! But there's so many other people..." nodded Song Anyue and she was already hiding behind Wan Yunque to avoid social interaction.
"Pffft, there's nothing to be afraid of, just your crush..." laughed Wan Yunque in her face.
"Exactly my point," told her Song Anyue and as the two were bickering, the Lans in front of them divided into two group, the seniors, Lan Qiren, Sizhui and a small number of other juniors went in, while the rest were left outside.
"Come on, time to talk to your boyfriend," teased Wan Yunque and started dragging Song Anyue behind her.
"Hey! Don't say that, at least not so loud! And let go! I do not socialize and you know that," protested Song Anyue, but none the less she was pulled along anyway.
"Too late," laughed Wan Yunque at her misery and speed walked right to the Lan.
"Hey, whatcha doin?" she asked, still holding Song Anyue's hand to prevent her from leaving.
"Waiting for them to finish," he told them grumpily and pointed to the closed doors behind him, "apparently I'm not good enough."
"Meh, they just don't like your un-Lanness," told him Wan Yunque with a smile.
"What's with her?" changed Lan Jingyi the topic, honestly interested in Song Anyue, who was now trying to hide behind Wan Yunque.
"She is sleep deprived," told him the other girl, "so she is moody today. And a lot more awkward than usually."
"Don't expose me like that," slapped Song Anyue her friend lightly on the head and finally stood in clear sight.
"That is not exposing, I'm just saving him some trouble of figuring out your weird antics," replied Wan Yunque.
Song Anyue opened her mouth to say something, than closed it, repeated said action for about 4 times, than finally started talking: "What is going on in there anyways?"
Lan Jingyi wanted to answer, but suddenly the doors burst open, a disciple fell out and than they closed themselves with such force, that they almost broke. Everyone stared for a second. Surprisingly the first one to say something was Song Anyue: "We need to get Hanguang-Jun here. ASAP."
"R-right, he should be at the cold springs, let's go," nodded Lan Jingyi and waved his hand for the others to follow him.
"Wait, two people going is enough, others should try to figure out what's going on inside," stopped Song Anyue the rest and went to find Hanguang-Jun with Lan Jingyi.
"So you're not afraid to talk to me anymore, that's a relief," teased the Lan, when they were out of the rest's earshot.
"Not the right time," replied Song Anyue with a serious face, "how far is it?"
"We're here," told her Lan Jingyi, as they stopped before some, too long for Song Anyue's liking, stairs, they ran down. As expected, they found Hanguang-Jun, Wei Wuxian and Fox in a strange stare contest, or something. Jingyi was about to bow, excuse them, do practically all the useless things Lan's do, but Song Anyue pushed him to the side to immediately say: "Lan Qiren with some other senior and junior disciples did spirit summoning, probably, and something went wrong."
The moment she finished, she was being pushed along, back up the stairs, to the building, where the disciples outside were attempting to open the doors. Wan Yunque was trying to get them to stop, since it would be useless, but since she was the disciple of the Yilling patriarch, nobody listened to her, she let out a sigh of relief, when she saw the others approaching.
"They need to be opened with a talisman!" she shouted at them.
"Stay away," told Lan Wangji the Lan juniors, when they stopped in front of the door. The disciples parted immediately, than Hanguang-Jun motioned for Wan Yunque to do as she needs. She bit her finger and made a strange motion in the air. When she was finished, she comanded the door: "Open!"
Sure enough, great force pushed them open.
Immediately, Lan Wangji went inside.
"You too," told them Wei Wuxian as he ran after the first man. Wan Yunque, Song Anyue and Fox immediately after him. And just in time, because the second they stepped inside the door closed. The power behind that blow was enough for the girls to stumble forward.
They didn't even get the chance to steady their feet, before a smoking black sword came flying at them. Neither had time to dodge, but luckily, they had Fox, who quickly turned half-human and caught the blade, before it could do any damage.
