As they were getting closer to the Cloud recesses, Fox, Song Anyue and Wan Yunque became more and more nervous. So, did Lan Wangji actually plan on taking them in? All three thought that it was some weird joke, or something, but when they tried to leave a few times, they were immediately brought back and now they were nearing the front gate.
"Oh no! Do you think it would be too much of a problem if I like... camped outside?" said Song Anyue with a "really not pleased" face. She was talking to Fox and Wan Yunque, but her answer came from Lan Jingyi: "Why would you do that? It's really nice inside."
"That place is hell," replied Song Anyue and quickly switched places with Fox, so that she could stand further away from the Lan.
"Hey! What's so hellish about it?" frowned Lan Jingyi, who felt a little hurt by her constant distancing.
"Honestly where do I even start!" she said and started gesturing with her hands, "everything is just so white like, I'm afraid to walk around so that I accidentally don't dirty something! And every single person looks like there is some kind of a funeral going on and they even wear that terrible forehead ribbon! Oh AND everyone acts like some kind of a robot, absolutely non-human and boring as hell!!! And don't even get me started on the rules, like what even is that!"
By the end of her speach Song Anyue quickly switched with Wan Yunque, now walking at the back next to Mo Xuanyu on his donkey.
"That sums it up pretty well," agreed the supposed lunatic.
"I know, I don't ever wanna go back there," nodded Song Anyue and started sulking, "I would much rather just camp outside."
Okay now, Lan Jingyi was getting angry, not only did she basically run away from him during a conversation (she usually did that after she stopped speaking), but she also started talking with someone else. And she didn't even know Mo Xuanyu that well and there was no problem with talking to him on the girl's side! Well there was a problem, but he didn't know that.
"Jealous much?" smirked Fox next to him.
"No way, why would I be," replied the Lan, but he was almost certain Fox wasn't convinced. The demon could be such a menace!
"I think you know why," continued Fox and gave him a little bit apologetic look, "don't worry, she just doesn't know how to talk to you."
"Doesn't know? She talked to me just fine before!" spat Lan Jingyi angrily.
"That was before... oh wait I shouldn't say that," told him Fox.
Before I asked her stupid questions, thought Lan Jingyi, when we get to the Cloud recesses I'll apologize...
By this point Song Anyue was, getting considerably jealous of Wan Yunque and Lan Sizhui happily chatting in front of her.
I wish I could talk with people without embarrassing myself every two words, she thought. It didn't take them long to get to the main gate. And when they got there Mo Xuanyu made a scene like hell. He started crying and screaming, holding his donkey in place.
"You said yourself that Hanguan-jun was your type," tried Lan Sizhui to calm him down to no vail.
"Um... if he doesn't want to go in, I can stay here with him..." quickly said Song Anyue and both Fox and Wan Yunque joined her.
"Oh come on! Could recesses isn't that bad," frowned Lan Jigyi, now they had to somehow make 4 people and a donkey go inside. And the noise Mo Xuanyu was making was no help at all.
"Wait till he tires out than drag him in," said Lan Wangji after a little while.
"And we are left outside!" whisper-yelled Wan Yunque and Song Anyue gave her a satisfied giggle and a raised thumb. But their happiness didn't last long, Hanguang-jun was not even halfway at the door, when he turned around to tell them:
"You three come with me."
"Is this necessary?" grumbled Fox, "we won't make trouble outside!"
They were sent a death glare in return. But since neither wanted to go in and since angry Fox was still scarier Wan Yunque tried not to go in again: "We really will stay nearby, I dunno you can sent guards to watch us, just let us be outside?"
Their answer was not a welcomed one, the girls were both dragged inside by their collars, Fox was lifted by the skin on the back of his neck.
"Ow, ow, ow, ow! Let go, let go!" They all struggled, but the grip on their clothes was too strong. So since they weren't going to get themselves free any time soon, they decided to make as much noise as possible to annoy the man and make him let them go. It didn't work. It was fairly surprising, when they were finally freed in the jingshi of all places.
"Be silent," told them Lan Wangji, before he slid the door shut and left the three of them inside with nothing to do.
"The hell just happened?" asked Fox and rubbed the part of his poor neck that was just held by Lan Wangji.
"He... threw us into his room...?" said Wan Yunque in wonder.
"Honesty, I thought we'd be dead by now, that man is unpredictable," finished Song Anyue and she started mindlessly looking around the room.
"What are jou looking for?" asked Fox after a while.
"Ink and paper, do you even know her?" smirked Wan Yunque and Song Anyue gave them a raised thumb to confirm what was said. She continued what she was doing, until she finally found a stack of papers.
"Yes! Hey Fox, what do you say we write that fanfic we talked bout??" she smirked at the demon.
"You should have said so sooner," replied Fox and jumped over.
"You two are impossible," laughed Wan Yunque, but she joined in to take a look at the disaster her friends were about to make.
"This is A-R-T," told her Fox, while Song Anyue made herself at home on Hanguang-jun's table.
"Alright, I say Wangxian, we have some good stuff," she said as she raised her brush and wrote the ship name to the top of one of the papers.
"Ooooh~ yessssss~ two lovers torn apart by the mercyless death meet 13 years later!" said Fox, very dramatically.
Wan Yunque laughed at them and corrected a lot of historical inaccuracies, beginning with the fact that they don't know if their Master is back for sure, ending with things like: "Honestly, you should NEVER say, that they... did the do... in the BLOOD-POND of all places?"
"It would be fairly interesting tho, don't you think?" replied Fox and they kept the thing in there.
"Yes, we should explore that thought in the next one," wondered Song Anyue, but before they could ponder on the possibility some more, the door opened again and someone else was thrown in by Lan Wangji.
"Oh goddamnit," mumbled Mo Xuanyu as he stood up from where he fell, only than did he notice the two teenagers and a demon watching him.
"Huh, so he kept you here too, huh?" he all but smirked at them.
"He did," nodded Wan Yunque, "we were bored..."
"...and so we started on a new fanfiction," finished Fox.
Three pairs of eyes were now looking suspiciously at Mo Xuanyu.
"Are you really Mo Xuanyu...?" asked Wan Yunque almost immediately.
"Take a guess," smirked the man and sat down beside them.
The two ladies looked at him with appraising, but very unimpressed looks.
"Yeah no, I don't buy it," first started Song Anyue, shaking her head.
"You're very cruel, no matter who you are right now," agreed Wan Yunque. Either this was their master somehow reborn and than he was being cruel by letting them guess, or he was this lunatic Mo Xuanyu and giving the poor girls unfair false hope.
"Oh I know," sighed the man, removing his mask, "and I'm sorry."
There was a sad, wet smile on his lips, when he raised his head to look at his young disciples. For a moment nobody was sure how to react, until there were wet streams down their cheeks and all the demonic cultivating fools decided to share their first hug in 13 years.
"Master Wei, you're so mean," hiccuped Song Anyue upon being gathered up into the biggest hug of her life, "why didn't you tell us!!"
"I don't believe for a second you two of all people weren't aware," laughed the man in question, holding his disciples tighter.
"Well only a blind fool could call Jiang Wanyin unattractive," replied the sniffling Wan Yunque, "a blind fool and you."
