"Oh no," mumbled Song Anyue, looking to Wan Yunque with a "did I accidentally call him?" look. When Wan Yunque gave her an equally confused head shake, she turned back to the black fox. It was slowly turning around. When it sat face to face with Song Anyue, who fell when trying to dodge the arm, it looked at her for a good minute.
"You are in big trouble," it said after a while. Anger eminent in it's voice.
"I didn't really do anything," Song Anyue tried.
"Exactly! You can't just disappear for 13 years without telling me! What if you died!?! How would I know!" the fox started it's tantrum.
"To be fair, I was frozen in time for most of those 13 years," replied Song Anyue.
"And why did you not call me before that?!" spat the fox demon angrily.
"I... forgot... we both forgot," confessed Song Anyue.
"You forgot that you can summon an ALL-POWERFUL DEMON to SAVE YOU, by only CALLING out to it!!!!" roared the angry fox.
"Little Fox, calm down, I'm sorry okay, hey and we're fine, it won't happed again, I promise," said Song Anyue quickly.
"You always say that! But you know, when you try to take on some super strong corpse, I'll still soon find you! But you disappeared for 13 FUCKING YEARS!" screamed Fox, smoke coming out of his mouth and nose.
"Hey, it's not just A-Yu's fault," stepped Wan Yunque in.
The fox seemed like it wanted to say something, but at that moment a sound similar to battle cry came from the other cultivators, who were much too blindsighted by the statue-melting demon to do anything up until now. Now, they were all attacking the fox and Wen Ning, who was still standing in the middle of this mess.
"Wait!" called Song Anyue out, but she couldn't be heard over the sudden noice. She looked to her right, where stood that Mo Xuanyu, he was looking a little shocked a little pleased and a little worried all together. When he noticed her looking at him, he smirked: "What are you going to do now?"
"Um..." Song Anyue wasn't sure... she didn't want to give up her identity, but the only way she could think of to stop the pissed fox was using her cultivation. Than a cracking noise came from the hoard of bodies and someone cried."Oh fuck it, where's my morality," she spat, deciding.
It doesn't matter if she exposes herself, if she doesn't, Fox is going to kill everyone.
"Need help?" asked Wan Yunque and reached for her flute.
"Nah, it's not like he's listen to anyone else anyway..." half smiled Song Anyue and the scars on her neck moved to form the protective symbol it was just a few days ago. There were still a few people watching her during the fight and when they realized what the movement on her neck meant, they could barely do anything other than stand there shellshocked.
"I-is that...?" stuttered Lan Sizhui, surprised.
"Impossible..." sort of agreed Lan Jingyi with him, both only knew the what it's supposed to look like from books and scriptures, but there was no mistaking it. After all, protective talismans being etched into one's neck is not something you see every day."Pffff... okay... I don't remember any songs all of a sudden..." she laughed dryly.
But than a voice that almost didn't sound like hers filled the area. Her throat was unfortunately unused to the first few words sounded quite terrible, but they got the attention from Fox, he stopped for a second, before continuing.
"Not making it easy today," frowned Song Anyue, this time her voice came out much better, while nobody really understood her, it was almost hauntingly beautiful. After first few notes Fox stopped trying to bite someones neck out and found his way from the mess of people to stand calmly by Song Anyue's side.
"It's Hongmanbu! The red wanderer!" screamed someone.
Oh no...
"Too young, the Red wanderer should be nearing her thirties," replied somebody else, in who Song Anyue recognized Lan Jingyi. She smiled bitterly. Though she wondered... how did he know her supposed age?"Who knows what cruel sorcery they use to stay young!" clearly most people refused to give any sort of doubt to her once they were reminded of her possible existence...
"And she uses THAT cultivation method! Who else is crazy enough to do that?"
"There are plenty of people who imitate both the grand master of demonic cultivation and his pupils..." offered this time Lan Sizhui.
The girls just stood under everybody's gazes, with Fox giving people death glares.
"We can deal with that later tho! There is still the Ghost general to take care of," suddenly someone reminded and the attention of some was immediately changed. Wen Ning and Wei Wuxian were still the biggest threat. But most people found themselves not knowing what to do. Capture the disciples of Yiling, or the Ghost general?
Mo Xuanyu decided to answer for them, because he made small flute sound at which Wen Ning immediately became hostile.
