They entered the room in silence. And they also sat in silence. Silence was all there well was for a long time, it was fairly uncomfortable.

The one who spoke up in the end was surprisingly none other than Nie Huaisang: "Wei-xiong... I really don't know anything..."

"Wei-" Wei Wuxian exclaimed a little shocked, than he remembered that his mask wasn't on. Thankfully for Wan Yunque, because it would be embarrassing to admit that Nie Huaisang more likely found out due to her shouting his name, when she came for Song Anyue and Fox.

He paled for a second, and Nie Huaisang seemed to get the hint: "Oh... oh! I won't tell anyone, please don't hurt me..."

"We won't... but you have to tell us everything," told him Wei Wuxian, when he realized it was alright.

"Uh... I don't know anything..." repeated Nie Huaisang and hid behind his fan.

"That's not true Nie-xiong! You were at the... man-eating-something for a reason! Why was that?" stepped Song Anyue in. And she sat down next to Wei Wuxian at the table.

"Um... I don't..." Nie Huaisang tried again.

"Nie-xiong... if you don't tell us now... well someone is going to find out in the future and if you want to explain than... well, you probably won't get the chance," smiled Song Anyue softly and she lightly patted his hand. Nie Huaisang seemed to think about that for a little while, even lowering his fan.

"A-Yu is right, better say it now," nodded Wei Wuxian. And he gave the man a small, mischievous smile.

"Okay... I'll tell you, but you have to promise you won't tell a soul. And if this gets out one day... please put in a good word for me?" asked Nie Huaisang finally, after thinking the whole thing through again.

"Definitely," beamed Song Anyue and raised her thumb.

"Mn," nodded Lan Wangji approvingly.

"Well than..." Nie Huaisang raised his fan once again, "the "man eating castles" as people call them are actually ancestral halls of the Nie clan. T-the thing is... we... all Nie use sabers and well, sabers are different from swords, because they have their, sort of, own spirits. And they become agitated when battling. While the owner is alive, they suppress the sword spirit, but after they die... well... here comes the ancestral hall you saw today into play. Since there is nothing to control the agitated sabers after the owners death one of my ancestors figured out that if we put the sabers into the same place with corpses, that are about to transform into resentful ghosts, fierce corpses, ect. Don't give me that look Wei-xiong! We didn't kill anybody, we went through a lot of trouble to get these corpses!"

"Master Wei! That is very rude to stare like that," nodded Wan Yunque.

"Exactly, the Nie are a good clan, they wouldn't do that!" chimed Song Anyue in.

"I'm not accusing anyone," defended Wei Wuxian and crossed his arms, "you two... immediately against me... now, could you continue."

"Right," Nie Huaisang quickly fixed his hair before continuing, "so basically, the resent of corpses and the saber spirits balance each other out. And that's what you saw today..."

"And... did it really eat someone?" asked Song Anyue, after Nie Huaisang finished.

At that the man started fanning himself faster and visibly paled: "Well... kind of..."

Everyone in the room was now looking at him in wonder and the man grew a little embarrassed.
"Once some grave robbers got in... on their way they accidentally destroyed a few corpses... and the castle kinda... well it sealed them inside.." explained Nie Huaisang.
