"A great depiction of yourself," snickered Wan Yunque and she pushed the papers she bought into his face.
"Wha-!? What! No way! Again? These are just so terrible!" lamented Wei Wuxian as he strolled through the pictures and his disciples laughed at his misery.
"We're so lucky, we were known not to show our faces," laughed Wan Yunque and Song Anyue agreed quickly.
"Oh yeah, and that's thanks to ME, mind you," told them an unimpressed Wei Wuxian, than he looked at Lan Wangji for a second and got all serious again, "now anything spirit related?"
"Well, not much..." shrugged Wan Yunque.
"Um... the people did tell us about this "man eating castle", it seems to be something everyone knows," finished Song Anyue.
"A man eating castle?" raised Wei Wuxian a brow at them.
"It's the only thing we found," shrugged Song Anyue, "there was nothing else."
"Ts, Hanguang-jun even gave you money and that's all you got," shook his head Wei Wuxian in fake disappointment.
"Not all of us are social stars like you," rolled Wan Yunque her eyes, "besides, it's at least something. And many people see it as some sort of a deal, so it could be beneficial to check out."
"True," laughed Wei Wuxian and he pat Wan Yunque's head, "now let's take a look at your man-eating castle. And than we should burn these."
"Oh no! I'm hanging them above my bed, when I have one," laughed Wan Yunque and quickly snatched her drawings back.
"You know that they don't work in any way," scoffed Wei Wuxian.
And at that they were on their way.
Wan Yunque and Wei Wuxian were in the front, arguing over the papers, Hanguang-jun was walking behind them and Song Anyue with Fox kind of stayed behind to talk about fanfiction. That's how they were situated, when they entered the forest and when they saw a small group of living corpses make their way forward. They were so weak, that even the lightest breeze had them lose footing and swing from side to side. Upon seeing Wei Wuxian, they hurriedly turned a different direction.
"Huh, you two, now why did that happen?" smirked the man and he puts an arm around the shoulders of each of his disciples.
"Um... they are scared of you," told him Song Anyue, only half sarcastically.
"Hm... more like they got scared of Hanguang-jun in that regard," corrected Wan Yunque, "but it probably has to do with Fox too."
"And the fact that there is a certain Yiling laozu with us," finished Song Anyue, "all factors combined: they didn't want to die."
"Hm... good enough," told them their teacher with a smirk, "but you forgot something..."As he was explaining something Fox, nor Lan Wangji understood, they arrived at a strange part of the forest.
"Hm... hey! Stupid Human! There's some sort of an illusion ahead," shouted Fox, when they got close enough.
"Hm... a maze array," nodded Lan Wangji.
"Huh? Maze array? That's weird," mumbled Wan Yunque, but didn't go any further.
"Looks like someone doesn't want us disturbing the "man-eaters"," smirked Song Anyue, "come on Little Fox, lead the way!"
"Ugh, alright, let's go," the thing was, since Fox was a powerful demon, most mortal things were an easy job for him. So breaking the maze array was a piece of cake, except it wasn't as easy as he initially thought it would be.
"The caster isn't fooling around," he mumbled to himself. They made it safely across the array, but soon had to stop again. This time the cause was the familiar sound of dog barks.
"D-dog! Dog! Dog!" sreamed Wei Wuxian and immediately hid behind Lan Wangji, with Song Anyue quickly grabbing Wan Yunque again.
"Honestly, why are you so scared of them?" asked Wan Yunque a bit disappointed, the question was probably aimed at both demonic cultivators, but the one answering was Song Anyue:
"They are bloodthirsty beasts! That's why."
They had to stay like that, until the barking stopped and afterwards they ventured on, only slowly.
"God damnit you two, what if it's the Kid's dog and he needs help?" frowned Fox, because of the speed, obviously.
"Jin Ling?" raised Wei Wuxian his eyebrow, "he didn't really tell us what he was doing, did he..."
"Oh no! Not that one!" whined Song Anyue, "ok, let's go, if it really is that dog, I'm... gonna have to die, I guess... if it's not, I'm running away!"
And as luck would have it, suddenly Fairy emerged from a bush in front of them. She had a few seconds of stare contest with Fox, but than she bravely went, bit into Wei Wuxian's clothes and started dragging him away. Much to the man's dislike.
"Master Wei!" quickly screamed Wan Yunque and ran after them, with Lan Wangji and Fox.
"Hey! Don't leave me here alone!" pouted Song Anyue, as she followed after them.
