Raven and Mason's story

Mason's POV

"Good evening sir, it's a horror I mean honour to meat you," I said taking Mr Hunter's outstretched hand. His firm hand shake cut off circulation from my hand and let me tell you, I am a soccer player.

He grinned at me releasing my hand which I let fall back to my side, "It's nice to see you again Mason, I'm glad my daughter brought you over for thanksgiving."

"Dad, this are my other friends Logan, Jody, Alisa and Cole," Raven introduced and I mentally appreciated her knowing that I didn't have to be the one to do the introductions.

I'd been to Raven's house a good number of times since her dad always insists on meeting me to discuss how I was treating his 'little birdie'. Can you imagine a 6ft'5inched muscled wrestler acting all touchy feely and stuff, well I couldn't until I met Scott Hunter.

Raven's house looked the same as always except with a few added decorations which looked like they were done by Scott and Chloe, my girlfriend will never decorate a place no matter the occasion.

"It is nice of you to join us for Thanksgiving dinner, come on in!" he exclaimed using his arm to wave us all in.

"Nice place you've got here Mr Hunter," Cole commented looking around the house, he seemed to be the only one who wasn't in the least bit afraid of Scott.

"Oh stop with the formalities, you can call me, Scott," he said leading us to dinning room.

There were a lot of mouth watering and stomach rumbling dishes on the table so I had to ask, "You're not the one who prepared all this are you?"

"Seeing as Raven would rather shave her head than step into a kitchen, I can guarantee you that I got no help from her."

"I bet Chloe did all the work," I smirked and he rubbed the back of his head in what I assumed was a confirmation to my assumption.

"I did prepare the turkey on my own though," Scott stated and I admit, I was low-key impressed..... high-key if I was being honest.

"You cooked a turkey, and it looks and smells heavenly. Can you teach me your ways Scott," Cole gushed staring at Scott like he was a god of some sort.

Raven had been quiet ever since we got here so I turn my attention to her. She looked to be deep in thought if the dazed expression on her face is anything to go by.

"Hey Rave, what are you thinking about," I asked snapping her out of whatever trance she fell into.

"How good it is to let more people into your life," she whispered giving me a teary smile.

Raven is one of the strongest people I know, despite her mom dying of terminal cancer when she was fourteen, she held strong. When I found Raven, she didn't have the best set of friends. They were always doing drugs or other illegal shit and despite not really knowing her, I could tell she didn't belong with them.

It was unbearably difficult to get Raven to open up to me but when she finally did, Scott and I were able to pull her out completely before she could sink any further into her abyss.

My parents weren't really supportive of my relationship with her because of the way she dressed and acted. I didn't care about their opinions though, because there was something about her that kept pulling me back.

It took a year to get her to completely trust me and after that, I started introducing her to people dear to me, making sure she got acquainted with them. I even helped her find her own friend group that were much more considerate and accepting than the last.
