Logan's POV

I thought about what Sam and I just talked about as I approached our layout. She's incredibly stupid for thinking of doing something like this but I have to agree, she does have a point. It'll be much easier for her to handle being kidnapped than it'll be for a six year old.

The only problem hear is that, Roderick might not hesitate to kill her if anything goes wrong.

I'm right outside Roderick's place to talk to him, just Sam requested.

I typed in the gate code and let myself in. Only trusted gang members are told the gate code but since Roderick doesn't trust me anymore, I wonder why he hasn't changed it.

I go straight to his office where I am sure he'll be. I knock thrice on the door before entering. Just like I thought, he was here going through some files.

"To what do I owe your visit, son" Roderick asked without looking up.

"I've got a message for you from Sam, Jayden's girl. You know, the one you intended to kidnap at first"

"Hmm, go on"

"She will like to strike a bargain with you. She asks that you take her in place of Daisy, after all she's the one you wanted at first"

"And what will I benefit from this exchange"

"She wants you to look at it in this light, it'll break Jayden's heart more if the girl he loves is kidnapped than if his stepsister is. You'll be able to have a stronger grip on Jayden if you have her in your custody"

"And you Logan, what do you get out of this.

"Me, I'm just passing the message Roderick" I replied genuinely confused by his question.

"So you're not getting anything out of this"

"No, Sam and her group are still angry at me. I feel like I owe them a favour so I'm doing this" I said hoping he'd believe me.

He seemed satisfied with my answer and proceeded to nod his expression unchanging.

"So where do you want her to meet you" I questioned nonchalantly.

"Here, bring her here" he's reply catches me off guard and I stare at him suspiciously.

"Why is she meeting you here Roderick, you hardly let anyone know about this place let alone someone I'm positive you don't trust"

"The thing is Logan, I don't have to worry about my son's bitch ratting me out because she most likely won't get out of here alive" he said a creepy grin spread across his face.

I gulped and nodded slowly not sure what else to do. I don't think Sam realizes how much risk she's taking going through with this.

"And what time should I arrange with her" I asked cautiously.

"Tomorrow at six in the morning. If she never does get to school, everyone can just assume she got kidnapped on her way there" Roderick said a sinister smirk on his face.

I looked at him in horror before quickly contorting my expression to that of nonchalance although judging by Roderick's raised eyebrow, he had already seen it.

I sighed but nodded my head showing him that I understood.

I considered asking Roderick to spare her life but I decided that'll just weird him out and also make me come off as suspicious. Can't be killing two birds with one stone when I have absolutely no use for the birds, ehh.

I gave Roderick one last look before turning around to exit his condo. Staying in Roderick's presence for too long creeps me out, he is a very interesting man to say the least.

I texted Sam, telling her to meet me in her schools parking lot during their lunch break. I drove around aimlessly to while away time and to try and clear my head.

If Sam gets killed because of her stupid plan, I'll die. I might not get killed first hand but I'll definitely die of guilt.

I sighed softly when I glanced at the clock on my headboard, it is time to meet Sam and I'm still shaking with nerves.

I arrived at the parking lot in ten minutes and got out to see Sam already waiting for me. When her eyes finally caught sight of me, she heaved a sigh before approaching me.

I opened my car door and signaled her to get in.
"Where to" I asked pulling out of the school.
"Starbucks" she replied absentmindedly.

As we approached Starbucks, I felt my nerves pick up. I have to try and stop her or at least convince her to see how bad an idea this whole thing is.

The smell of food wafted pleasantly through my nose as we parked in front of our destination. At least she picked a good place for this talk, food can never go wrong.

We found ourselves a booth at the corner of the shop and sat down comfortably before placing our orders.

I ordered for a large Coke, an equally large hamburger and fries. If I was going to have this talk, I was going to do it my way.....in the comfort of food.

"So how did it go, what's the latest update" Sam asked sipping on her banana milk shake, the only thing she ordered.

"Well....." I drawled out at Sam's expectant face thinking of how to drop the news lightly. Not coming up with anything, I decided to wing it.

"Roderick is okay with your suggestion" I quipped avoiding the sticky part.

"Well that's great but your face doesn't seem to think much of it" Sam said scanning my expression.

I took a deep breath before spilling out the dreadful sentence, "Roderick also wants the exchange to occur tomorrow" I rushed out finding everything apart from her face interesting.

When I finally mustered enough courage to look at her, the expression on her face made my chest tighten. She looked scared although she was still trying to keep up her confident expression.

"You can still back out of this Sam, there's still enough time for you to pull out" I coaxed trying to get her to forget her plan.

"There's no use Logan, we've already made the deal. If we pull out now, he'll probably do something drastic and I'm not about to put Daisy in danger" she said dejectedly.

Sam is always so upbeat, it feels so wrong to see her like this. I may be a criminal but I still have a heart and it functions perfectly. I went to sit down beside and silently pulled her into a hug.

She didn't protest probably because she didn't have the energy to, and so we just stayed like that trying to comfort each other, more her than me.

After making sure Sam was considerably alright, I dropped her off at school at her own request although I feel she would have been better off at home.

After pulling myself together, I drove off to my house planning to wallow in my own confusion and self pity.

What Sam and I failed to notice though was the person who had been following us right from when we left the academy to Starbucks till when we came back.

And although the person hadn't seen much, they had seen enough to draw some personal conclusions. Conclusions that were going to break us one by one.
