Chapter 31

The Next Morning

"So....last night huh?" Toni questioned while staring up at the ceiling.
"Yeah..." Cheryl laughed while also looking at the ceiling.
Toni turned on her side to look at her girlfriend.

"Are you ok with what happened?" Toni rested her head on hands.
Cheryl turned over to face Toni and smiled back at her.

"Yes more thank ok. It was perfect" Cheryl moved closer to Toni and cupped her face then lightly kissed her.

"Come on, we need to get ready. Don't want to be late for the competition" Toni removed the bed sheet from her and stood up from the bed. She walked round to Cheryl who was still laying down, then leaned down and kissed her on the forehead. Toni carried on walking towards the bathroom to get ready. Cheryl reached over and picked up her phone to check her messages.

Veronica @ The Vixens "what time are we meeting for breakfast?"
Josie @ The Vixens "not sure, waiting for Cheryl to confirm"
Veronica @ The Vixens "Cher?"
Josie @ The Vixens "Maybe shes preoccupied? ;)"
Betty @ The Vixens "yeah she's not the only one"

Cheryl laughed after reading the messages. She shook her head and began texting.

After getting ready, Toni and Cheryl headed down to breakfast. On their way down, they bumped in to Veronica and Archie.

"Hey guys" Toni waved at her fellow classmates.
"Hey you two, how was last night?" Veronica questioned.
Toni and Cheryl looked at one another and laughed.

"Yeah good thanks" Cheryl replied.
"How are you feeling Archie?" Toni probed.
"Yeah, not too great, hopefully a good breakfast will help deal with this hangover" Archie said while holding his head.

The girls laughed and they continued to walk down to breakfast to join the other students. After breakfast the girls left on the bus and headed to the Venue shortly followed by Toni, Archie, Jughead and Reggie in the truck. The venue was huge and large crowds were gathering to buy their tickets for the competition.

"Woah, this is insane" Reggie said while getting out of Archie's truck.
"I wish I was competiting" Toni admitted.
"There's always next year" Archie put his hand on the girl's shoulder to reassure her.
"Come on, lets get seated before all the best ones go" Archie motioned for them to head in to the venue.

The four students payed for their tickets and walked in to the Arena. The Arena was already pretty full and there was too many seats left.

"Toni!" Cheryl called out. She waved for them to go over to her, and she pointed at 4 seats near the front for them to sit down on.
"We've saved you some seats" Cheryl smiled at her co-captain.
"Ah great! Thanks girls" Reggie sat down with his large popcorn bucket and began eating it.
"Thanks babe, are you nervous?" Toni kissed Cheryl's cheek.
"A little, Stonewall Prep are here, they won this competition last year" Cheryl admitted.
"Don't worry you got this" Toni smiled, just as she leaned in to kiss Cheryl she was interupted.
"Toni? " a voice called out.

Toni turned around to see a girl in a Stonewall Prep cheerleading outfit.
"Oh my goodness, Hailey?" Toni shrieked.
The two girls embraced each other in a heartfelt hug.

"Oh my god, I can't believe its you! I thought you moved to New York?" Toni questioned excitedly.
"Yeah but I got a scholarship for cheerleading at Stonewall so I came back. I cant believe its been like 2 years since I last saw you" Hailey smiled.
"Yeah a lot has changed in that time" Toni admitted.
"Well you haven't" Hailey flirted

*cough cough*

"Ah sorry hi Cheryl how are you?" Hailey smiled at the red head.
"Hailey" Cheryl said sternly.
"Ok...well good luck girls, and I will see you later for a proper catch up yeah?" Hailey asked.
"Yeah sure, good luck to you too" Toni hugged the cheerleader and waved her goodbye.

Toni turned back to her girlfriend who had a stern look on her face.

"How do you know Hailey?" Cheryl questioned with her arms crossed.
"Cheryl why do you have that look?" Toni asked.
"Doesn't matter. I need to go practise" Cheryl walked away, leaving Toni a little confused.
"What just happened?" Jughead question while eating some of Reggie's popcorn.
"I actually don't know" Toni sighed while sitting down next to Jughead.

She look up to see Cheryl avoiding eye contact, while in the corner of her eye she could she Hailey whispering to her Stonewall Prep cheerleaders. The girls gossiped and subtly looked over in Toni's direction. Hailey waved over to her causing the pink haired girl to blush. Toni gave a small wave to them. The girls giggled and carried on whispering.

"I think they like us" Reggie carried on eating his popcorn while looking at the cheerleaders.
"Don't let Josie or the other girls hear you say that" Archie hinted at The Vixens who was looking back at them.

Later that afternoon

"Ok ladies and gentleman it's time to annouce the Top 3. In 3rd Place is.....West Bridge High School"

The audience applauded the group of cheerleaders as they collected their 3rd place trophy.

"And now for the final 2. The judges have marked these two squads very close. I can reveal that in 2nd Place is.....Mountain View High School"

Archie sunk back in his chair

"This is not good, we didnt make top 3, Stonewall are going to win it" Archie sighed.
"Damn" Reggie groaned.
"Guys, stop. The Vixens did a great job, their routine was better than Stonewall. They can still do it" Toni reassured them.
"Now the time you've all been waiting for. This years winners are......"

The room fell silent.

"From Riverdale High, The River Vixens!" The host proudly annouced.

The audience errupted in cheers and applause.

The Vixens started crying and hugging each other. The host shook the girl's hands and presented the Trophy to Cheryl.

"Congratulations The River Vixens, any words you want to share?" The host handed the microphone to Cheryl.
"Umm woah, this was kind of unexpected! I just want to thank the judges for choosing us and congratulations to the other squads there was some real talent out there today. I also want to thank my co-captain Toni Topaz" Cheryl hinted for her to come up and join her. Toni shyly walked over.

"Toni was unable to compete this weekend due to an injury she sustained whilst saving my life. Therefore this win was for you and you should be the one to have this. Thank you Toni" Cheryl smiled and gave the large trophy to Toni.

"Beautiful words. Let's hear it for The River Vixens"

Toni lifted the trophy high up and the girls started jumping around and cheering. The audienced continued cheering the winners.

"I knew you could do it!" Toni hugged her girlfriend.
"I couldn't have done it without you" Cheryl confessed while they were still hugging.
"Cheryl?"
The girls broke their hug up and turned around to see Hailey looking a little upset.

"I justed wanted to congratulate you all, you girls did an amazing job" Hailey confessed.
"Thanks" Cheryl replied.
"Thanks Hailey, your squad did a great job too" Toni smiled.
"Well clearly not enough for Top 3, but hey life goes on" Hailey admitted.
"I'm having a small party to celebrate later if you fancy coming? Be a great chance to catch up?"
"Sure, sounds great I look forward to it" Hailey beamed.
"Come up to the Columbia Suite around 6"
"A suite? Very nice Topaz. See you then" she walked away with her hands in her Stonewall Prep jacket.

The Vixens and the boys headed back to the hotel to celebrate their win.
