Chapter 24

Later that night

Cheryl was now sat right next to Toni's bedside, she held her hand in hers . Thomas had left the room to speak with the doctor for an update on Toni's condition. Cheryl hadn't thought to check her phone since she got the hospital, she took it out of her pocket and pressed the home button but the phone flashed up with low battery then shortly after it turned it self off. There was a soft knock at the door,  Cheryl turned around to see Sheriff Keller and Thomas standing in the doorway to the room.

"Cheryl, I've spoken with Sheriff Keller and we think it's a good idea that you don't stay at your house tonight. He has kindly offered to let you stay with him" Thomas explained

"Thank you Mr Keller, but I don't want to leave her" Cheryl looked back at Toni who was still unconscious.

"She will be okay I spoken with the doctor, she's stable. Plus you might want to clean up and get some rest, you have been through a lot today" Thomas hinted at Cheryl's top that had blood over it from when she cut her arm.

"I don't know, I mean I guess you're right" Cheryl agreed.

"We think its for the best. Kevin is waiting outside for you" Sheriff Keller added

"Ok Mr Keller, thank you" she smiled at both of them

Cheryl stood up then kissed the top of Toni's head and whispered "I will be back soon".

"Try and get some rest Cheryl" Thomas lightly place his hand on her shoulder

"I will try, but please call me if anything happens" 

Thomas nodded. Cheryl then followed Sheriff Keller out of the hospital room to see Kevin nervously sitting down on a chair. He stood up from the chair when he saw Cheryl approaching him, Kevin offered a small smile to her. Cheryl hugged Kevin tightly.

"It's going to be ok Cheryl" Kevin said while rubbing Cheryl's back for comfort

Cheryl wiped away a tear to stop it falling down her cheek.

"Come on let's take you home for the night" Sheriff Keller added

The three of them walked down the corridor to the exit of the hospital, Cheryl felt exhausted all of a sudden. The effects of today's events had taken their toll on her, it was as like as soon as she left Toni, she felt alone and in pain. She could feel her arm throbbing as the anesthesia was wearing off. 

"We can stop at your house to pick up your things if you like?" Tom offered

"Yes please Mr Keller" Cheryl said softly.

Once they arrived at Cheryl's house, Kevin follow Cheryl in to the house while Sheriff Keller stayed in the car listening to music playing on the radio. Cheryl picked up her Vixens duffel bag and started walking around her bedroom filling the bag with her things. Kevin sat on the bed that was in the middle of the room.

"Where's your mom Cheryl?" Kevin asked 

"She's away at a spa" Cheryl went in to her bathroom to pick up her toiletries.

"Have you called her?" 

"No. Things aren't good between us" Cheryl put the toiletries in to her bag then re-entered the bedroom and took the clean clothes Kevin was holding

"I think you should call her" 

"It's late I will do it in the morning" Cheryl went back in to the bathroom to change.

Cheryl then reappeared in a new outfit with the pile of bloody clothes in her hands. She stared at what was the pink t shirt but was now mostly red. 

"Are you okay?" Kevin stood up from the bed and walked over to Cheryl

"I...I..." Cheryl stuttered

Kevin pulled the emotional girl in for a hug

 "It's going to be okay" 

The two of them continued to hug each other until Cheryl asked "Kevin, can I tell you something?" 

"You can tell me anything" he looked at Cheryl and smiled.

"I..I think I love Toni" Cheryl confessed

Kevin's eyes widened in shock but then quickly smiled at Cheryl

"I don't really know for sure how I feel. I know that I really care about her and I guess she cares about me to, I mean she took a bullet for me" Cheryl looked back at the t shirt in her hands.

"It's okay to be unsure. Have you told her how you feel?" 

"Not exactly"

"What do you mean?" Kevin said confused

"Umm...well she stayed the night and..." Cheryl admitted

"Oh my god did you, you know?" Kevin interrupted and raised his eyebrows suggestively.

"No Kev, we just kissed" Cheryl protested then ran her hands through the top of her hair nervously.

"Well she must feel the same way about you then" 

"I'm not sure, but I hope she does" 

"Trust me. Before you know it, you and Toni will be jetting off to lesbos island to get married" he joked.

Cheryl smirolled her eyes and began putting the final things in her bag.

"You ready?" Kevin asked.

"Yeah" Cheryl smiled at Kevin.

The two of them made their way downstairs to the door where Sheriff Keller was waiting.

"I just have to grab something I will meet you both in the car"

Sheriff Keller and Kevin opened the door then walked over to the Sheriff's can and sat down in it. Meanwhile Cheryl went in to her fathers office and stopped  at the large safe that was half covered a painting that had fallen down from the Ghoulies' raid that previous night. She removed the painting and carefully placed it down on the floor beside the safe. She turn the dial on it to successfully open it. Inside was large bundles of money and other expensive items, Cheryl picked up two bundles of money then quickly puy them in her Vixen's gym bag. She locked up the safe and returned the painting on the wall to cover the safe. Cheryl left the room and headed out of her house and closed the door behind her and locked it with her set of keys. She walked over to the car and opened the door.

"Everything ok?" Sherrif Keller asked

"Yeah for now" Cheryl gave a small smile to him.

Cheryl sat back in the car staring out of the window thinking of Toni only.
