Leather Jackets and Brooches

Chapter 1

Principle Weatherbee
"Students of Riverdale High this is your Principle speaking. Emails have been sent to your parents, but effective immediately Southside High School has been shut down. Its students will be transferred to other schools in the district including this one. I believe the statement we are releasing will deal with your concerns. You shall receive it shortly, I'm sure you will have many question. It goes without saying that we will be welcoming these students will open minds, hearts and arms. This will not affect course schedules or lock assignments. Thank you that's all"

"Cheryl?" Midge approaches her with concern.

"Hell no. My home life is a Dickensian nightmare. I won't have school turned in to one too" Cheryl replies then grabs her cheer bag and storms out of the locker room.

Archie, Betty, Veronica and Kevin exchange looks across the room during Principle Weatherbee's announcement.

"Wait, what does that mean?" Archie asks his friends.

"It means Jughead's coming back" Betty replies

"Betty, are you ready for that?" Kevin pries.

"Of course. We're fine"

"But why is the happening now?" Archie questions.

"Who knows, It's probably some bizarre byzantine town ordinance, we could't possibly understand. In the meantime let's receive the exiles as if they our own flesh and blood. Who's in?" Veronica looks around the room at her fellow students.

Meanwhile Jughead and Toni are sitting outside the entrance to Southside High unaware of the closure of their school. 

"Wow Jones, props to you. It's  very Lovecraftian, which I'm sure was the intention. But I got to ask, did you write this on a typewriter?" Toni asks him with a small smile

"Yeah, I wanted to get in to Lovecraft's headspace" Jughead replies.

"So, it wasn't like Betty bought you a typewriter for Christmas or anything" Toni looks at Jughead with raised eyebrows.

"No comment" Jughead takes the paper off of Toni.

"WOO!" the doors to the school are kicked open by Sweet Pea and Fangs who exchange high fives.

"What's going on?" Jughead asks confused.

"This hell hole is officially closed. We're done. No more Southside High." Sweet Pea cheers

"What, how?" Toni says worryingly.

"They say it's dangerous, it's been quarantined. Who cares, we're all going to different schools" Fangs explains.

"Wait, this doesn't make sense, where are you guys going?" Jughead questions.

"Same as you, and you, and Fangs...We're going to Riverdale High" Sweet Pea smiles

"Think of all the Northside heads to knock" Fangs pretends to get beat up by Sweet Pea.

Jughead and Toni leave the steps and walk towards the exit of the school, followed by Sweet Pea and Fangs constantly jumping on one another over  their excitement off Southside High shutting down.
