Leather Jackets and Brooches

Chapter 4

Friday Night

The majority of Riverdale High's popular kids were at this party including all the Vixens, Jocks and Josie and The Pussycats. Toni had been hanging out with Betty, Archie, and Kevin. 

"Betty was telling me about how you killed Cheryl in a dance off" Kevin said excitedly.

"I wouldn't put it like that" Toni said modestly.

"Well it did catch the eye of one individual, who is approaching us right now" Betty mumbled in to her cup.  

Toni turned around to see Austin with two cups in his hand. "Hi Toni, hey everyone" he said politely to not ignore Toni's friends.

"Hey Austin, how are you?" Toni smiled

"Yeah good thanks, do you want a drink" he offered her one of the cups in his hands.

"Sure thank you" Toni took the cup from him and put her nearly empty cup down on the table.

"I was going to talk to Moose and Midge if you want to join me" Austin held the back of his neck nervously,

"Sure, see you guys in a bit" Toni smiled at her friends who all had big grins on their face.

Toni and Austin walked through the crowd of students to find Midge and Cheryl in the kitchen talking to one another. Midge saw them and waved excitedly at them. 

"What is she doing here?  And ugh she's with Austin" Cheryl mumbled in to her cup

"I invited her. Come on Cheryl play nice. You know we could do with someone like her on the Vixens" 

"Whatever" Cheryl chugged the rest of her cup and left her to head outside to get another drink from the keg outside.

"Toni you came! Hey Austin" Midge hugged both of them.

"Thanks for the invite, it's a great party" Toni smiled.

"Glad you are having fun, how are you Austin?"

"Yeah great thanks, much better since the injury has gone away, how about you?"

Midge and Austin continued catching up while Toni listened, until a familiar red head caught her attention.

"Hey sorry guys I will be back in a second" Toni apologised and headed outside to the keg where Cheryl was struggling to get a drink.

"Do you want some help" Toni offered

"What do you want? Come here to gloat?" Cheryl started to walk away 

Toni moved in front of her.

"Wait Cheryl, I came over to apologize. I felt back for what happened, I didn't mean for it to upset you" 

Cheryl lifted her head up to see Toni's eyes looking in to hers. She could tell that she was sincere about the apology.

"Here let me get you a drink" Toni pulled Cheryl lightly around back to the keg where she filled up a cup, then handed it over to her.

"Thanks"

"I guess I will see you later then?" Toni smiled

"Yeah see you" Cheryl gave Toni a small smile.

Toni returned back to Austin and Midge who was discussing the Basketball tournament coming up.

Later that night

"I think she has had enough" Archie joked lightly at Cheryl who could barely stand up.

"Who's going to take her home?" Midge questioned

"I can, her house is not too far from mine" Toni offered

"No, no I can't go home. My mother will kill me if she thinks I'm drunk" Cheryl slurred

"Sorry Cheryl, but even Meryl Streep couldn't even act sober being this drunk" Kevin joked

"I will go anywhere but home, please" Cheryl pleaded Toni

"Well we was thinking of going to go Pop's so I guess we could get you some food as well to sober up?" Toni suggested.

"Yes, thank you!" Cheryl hugged Toni causing her to nearly fall over.

"Ok looks like it's a table for 6 then" Veronica joked.

"Come on then let's get you some food. Thanks again for the party Midge" Betty thanked her fellow Vixen

"Yes thank you" Toni and the others added.

"Sure guys, someone just let me know when Cheryl gets home" Midge smiled

Archie, Betty, Kevin, Veronica, Toni and a drunken Cheryl left the party and headed to Pop's to help sober up themselves well mainly Cheryl.
