Chapter 28

It had been 3 weeks since the accident, and Toni was almost fully recovered, every day the scars left behind were closing up and healing nicely. She had been released from the hospital and was back at home with her grandfather. Cheryl visited Toni as often as she could despite the Vixens practices taken over most of her free time, because Toni was definitely out for the competition, Cheryl had been working extra hard to ensure their routines were good enough. Cheryl stood by the door of the bus while checking her list on that was attached to her clipboard, the rest of the Vixens were outside chatting amongst their selves until a familiar face caught their eyes. 

"Toni" they cheered as they saw the pink headed girl walk slowly up to them, most of the Vixens hadn't seen her since the accident. Toni was embraced by several hugs from many of the girls.

"Hey girls, I just wanted to wish you all good luck with competition, I know you are gonna be amazing!" Toni smiled at her friends.

"We are gonna miss you but we are so glad that you are recovering well, before you know it you will be back busting those killer moves" Midge laughed.

"I can't wait" Toni smiled.

Cheryl walked over to the group and met eyes with Toni.

"Hey" Cheryl said nervously.

"Hey" Toni smiled at her girlfriend moved towards her then pulled her in for a hug, Cheryl wrapped her arms around the smaller girl tightly. 

"What are you doing here?" Cheryl questioned.

"I wanted to wish my favorite girls luck, and to see you of course" Toni admitted.

"Awww" Betty added.

Veronica gave Betty a slight nudge to warn her. 

"Strictly co-captain stuff" Toni laughed.

"Well we will leave you co-captains to it" Josie clapped and hinted for the others to leave them alone. The Vixens made their way on to the bus and sat down while looking out of the windows to see any gossip. 

"Did you really come just to talk about co-captain stuff?" Cheryl looked down at her clipboard.

"Of course not. I came to wish my girlfriend good luck" Toni playfully took  the clipboard out of Cheryl's hands.

"Hey don't mess up my list please" Cheryl pleaded.

"I'm not I just adding something" Toni began writing on it, once finished she handed it back to Cheryl.

"What did you write?" Cheryl started looking down her list to see what Toni had wrote.

"Don't worry about, anyway how are you feeling about the competition?"

"Nervous I guess, it doesn't feel right that you aren't competing with us"

"There will be other competitions don't worry. You better get going, I don't want to make you late" 

"Are you sure you don't want me to stay here with you?" Cheryl offered.

"I will be fine. Don't worry you can look after me when you get back" Toni winked at her.

Cheryl moved towards to Toni and as she was about to kiss her, all of the girls on the bus were banging on the windows cheering and Betty was honking the horn of the bus. The two girls stopped and looked at one another then laughed. Toni moved her head to look past Cheryl at the bus.

"Just for that, yous aren't getting a Choni kiss" Toni laughed.

"Choni?" Cheryl questioned.

"Yeah Choni as in Cheryl and Toni, it's our ship name" 

"I bet I can guess who came up with that" Cheryl turned around to look at her cousin who was still watching while making kissing faces, she lightly shook her head and turn back to face Toni. 

"Never mind. Good luck babe" Toni kissed her on the cheek and hugged her.

"Thank you T. I will call you when we get there" Cheryl picked up Toni's hands and rubbed the back of them with her thumbs.

"Go bring that trophy home!" Toni smiled at the red head. 

"Don't worry we will" Cheryl winked at her girlfriend as she walked away towards the bus. As she got on the bus the girls cheered. 

"Thanks guys for your romance encouragement" Cheryl rolled her eyes and laughed at them.  

Toni waved the girls goodbye and watched the bus pull away and leave the school park. Once they were out of sight, Toni then took out her phone and called Jughead.

"Hey Jug, they've gone" Toni listened to Jug talk on the phone.

"Sure, I will meet you at Pop's in 10, see you then" Toni ended the call and headed for the diner.

As Toni walked in the car park at Pop's she saw Reggie and Archie put their bags in the back of Archie's truck. The door to Pop's diner opened and Jughead appeared with 2 bags of food in his left hand while  using the other hand to feed himself with a burger. 

"Don't worry we got your bag, only after going back for it because Jug forgot it" Archie laughed.

"Why am I not surprised" Toni laughed.

"At least its here. Anywhere I got everyone's favorites for the road and Pop threw in some extra fries as well" Jughead held up the bag of food.

"Awesome. Are you sure the girls have no idea?" Reggie questioned after shutting the back of the truck up.

"Nope not a clue. Imagine their faces when we show up to surprise them" Toni responded.

"Looks like we could all get laid tonight guys" Reggie said while huddling them all together.

"I'm not that way inclined" Toni shrugged Reggie's arm off her shoulder.

"What are you talking about, Cheryl is smoking hot I would love to tap that" Reggie joked.

"Reg" Archie warned.

"I'm kidding. But have you and Cheryl you know..." 

"Not yet" Toni felt embarrassed.

"I can give you some advice if you want" Reggie put his arm back around the small girl.

"After hearing from Josie I think I will give it it a miss" Toni patted him on the chest then walked away. It took Reggie a while to realize what Toni meant.

"Wait, Josie said what?"

Toni winked at Archie while she got in the truck.

"Archie what do you think Josie said?" Reggie panicked.

"Toni's winding you up bro, come on let's go I wanna get to the hotel before dark." Archie put his arm around him for reassurance.

Archie climbed in to the driver's seat followed by Reggie who sat in the passenger's set next to him while Jughead and Toni sat in the back. Jughead opened up the bags of food and began to hand the burgers and fries out to the others, Archie started the truck then pulled out of the car park  and started heading to their hotel.
