Leather Jackets and Brooches

Chapter 8

Monday afternoon

"Hey Toni, as promised your jacket safely returned" Cheryl lent against the locker next to Toni's.

"Ah thanks Cheryl, I totally forgot that I left it at yours. I guess I was distracted by my new one" Toni smiled at the red head.

"Speaking of it, shall we go and share the good news with our team?" Cheryl winked at Toni.

"Sure. I'm really excited" Toni shut her locker and followed Cheryl in to the gymnasium.

"Gather around ladies" Cheryl clapped.

All of the Vixens stood around to hear what Cheryl had to say.

"Ok after much consideration, I have decided on who will replace Erika as my co-captain. Now are you ready for this biggest plot twist the Vixens has ever had...ladies please welcome Toni Topaz"

Many of the girls where shocked and began gossiping amongst themselves. Toni walked over to Cheryl who instantly greeted her with a hug.

"Hey, thanks Cheryl for this opportunity I'm really grateful and I can't wait to get started" Toni stood next to Cheryl while smiling

"We are really lucky to have you. So ok ladies lets stretch and warm up, get in to pairs and you can begin" Cheryl addressed her team

"Lucky for you, I'm your partner" Cheryl joked to Toni

"At least you haven't asked me to a stretch off" Toni winked at Cheryl as she stretched out her arms.

"Don't worry I lent my lesson not to challenge you" Cheryl added

The girls helped each other stretch out their legs ready for an intense training session as they had a competition coming up in a few weeks.

"Ok ladies if everyone is finished, we can begin" Cheryl stood in the centre of the group of girls.

"So now we have Toni on the team, I would like her to help us with our tumbles, starting with roundoffs. Toni if you could show us please"

"Sure" Toni said excitely

The pink headed Vixen took a small run up and completed a perfect roundoff and despite her being one of the smallest on the team, Toni was able to get quite a bit of height.

"Amazing Tee-Tee. Can you talk us through it and lets get practising ladies"

Toni explained to the girls how she used her arms to get more height and how she clenched her muscles to keep it tidy. The other girls then began practising their roundoffs while Toni and Cheryl watched them and offered support to improve their techniques.

"Hey I just thought we need to finish the presentation" Toni whispered to Cheryl

"We? I lost the bet remember?" Cheryl whispered back while still watching the girls practice.

"The bets off" Toni laughed

"If you're sure. Are you free tonight?"

"Yeah I'm free, do you want to come over to mine. It's no way near a nice as yours but I thought it would be away from your mom if things are still bad between yous, I don't want to pry but i thought"

"No Tee it will be great. I really appreciate it" Cheryl stopped Toni to reassure her. Toni smiled at Cheryl.

"Ok ladies next we will work on hand springs. Toni please can you do us the honors"

As expected Toni done a perfect hand spring then talked through her technique to the other girls. The continued to practice for another hour until everyone was exhausted and struggled keeping up with Toni.

"Ok ladies lets call it a day. Don't forget practice Wednesday after school and make sure to stretch off. I need you prepared for each session leading up to the competition"

The girls left the gymnasium and headed back to the locker room to get changed, Toni remained with Cheryl.

"How did I do?" Toni asked nervously

"You were perfect. I think we stand a good chance at this competition thanks to you" Cheryl reassured her co-captain.

"I need to go to my locker after I've showered so I may be a while"

"Don't worry Cheryl I usually take long showers anyway. Shall I meet you outside by the steps?" Toni suggested

"Great" Cheryl smiled

The girls went in the locker room to get showered and changed ready to go back to Toni's to finish of their History presentation.
