Later that afternoon

After the Doctor completed his tests and checks, Cheryl and Thomas were able to return to the  room. Toni had felt very tired for the majority of the day therefore they happily sat by her bedside as they were just grateful she was still alive. Thomas had left the hospital to return home to get showered and put on a clean pair of clothes on, meanwhile Cheryl was at Toni's bed side reading a magazine that a kind nurse had given her.

"Cheryl?" Toni said quietly

"Hey how are you feeling?" Cheryl said softly as she put down the magazine and turned to face Toni.

"I'm still in some pain but I will be okay" Toni gave Cheryl a small smile as she tried to push herself up from the bed.

"Here let me help you" Cheryl stood up from her chair then carefully placed her hands on Toni and helped her to get comfortable.

"Thank you"

The two girls sat in silence, unsure of what to say to each other.

"Are you okay?" Toni asked as she could she Cheryl distressed.

"I keep having visions of you coming out of the barn covered in blood. I didn't know if you was going to make it" Cheryl could feel her eyes filling with tears.

"Hey don't cry. I'm here aren't I?"

Cheryl bit her lip to try and stop crying, then nodded.

"We will get through this together" Toni held Cheryl's hand.

The two girls looked in to each others eyes for a while until Cheryl broke it by looking down at the ground shyly.

"Toni...I want to ask something" Cheryl asked nervously.

"You know you can ask me anything" Toni said reassuringly.

"I...guess its about our talk we was supposed to have?"

"Oh yeah, I kind of forgot about that" Toni laughed

"We don't have to talk about it, it doesn't matter anyway" Cheryl tried to nervously dismiss it.

"It matters to me"

"I didn't mean to say that. I guess I just don't know what to say in case it get it wrong." Cheryl admitted.

"How could you get it wrong? I will talk first then you have nothing to worry about " Toni tilted her head to look in to Cheryl's eyes causing her to smile.

Toni took a small deep breath then said "I like you Cheryl, and I mean I like you a lot, so much so that I kind of feel lonely when you are not around."

Cheryl was a little taken back but by Toni feeling so strong about her, this had never happened to her before. But nevertheless she was over the moon that Toni felt the same way as she did about her.

"This silence isn't good. Did I get it wrong?" Toni nervously laughed. Cheryl leaned towards her then cupped Toni in her hands then kissed her passionately.

"Whoa okay, so I take that as good thing then?" Toni joked causing Cheryl to laugh. Toni then lent back towards Cheryl and kissed her again. They both jumped when one of the machines beeped.

"Steady on there T, I don't want your heart rate to go too high" Cheryl lightly pushed away Toni.

Toni rolled her eyes and lent back on the bed.

"So...does this mean we're like..."

"Girlfriends?" Cheryl asked why biting her lip.

"Not officially. But lets make it official, Cheryl will you be my girlfriend?" Toni held Cheryl's hand a smiled at the red head.

"Yes!" Cheryl had a big smile across her face, she had never felt true happiness in a long while and it was shared with someone she was falling in love with, although she felt nervous at the same time because deep down she worried about what people would think about her dating Toni but in time she would learn that their opinions didn't matter.
