Chapter 18

The next week

All was well in Riverdale, Toni and Cheryl's friendship had grown even stronger since Toni's release especially because Cheryl had returned to school and Penelope had gone away for a 'spa' retreat. But Cheryl knew she went way because Penelope was afraid that the serpents would try and seek revenge for what happened to Toni. Because Cheryl was home alone she was able to relax and sleep better than she had the past couple of weeks, until Cheryl awoke and bolted up right when she heard a bang from downstairs. She began breathing rapidly then grabbed her hockey stick that was in the corner of her room as she thought someone was trying to break in. She slowly opened her bedroom door then tip-toed to the staircase, she could she the front door to the house was wide open and a vase had been smashed. She ran straight back to her room and dialed 911.

"9-1-1, what's your emergency" the operator answered

"Hello, my house has been broken in to" Cheryl panicked

"Ok, what's your name and address?"

"Cheryl Blossom, my house is Thistlehouse" Cheryl went over to her door and locked

"Ok Cheryl, stay calm, an Officer is on his way now" 

"Thank you" 

"Is there anyone still in the house?"

"I don't know. I've locked myself in my bedroom, I'm home alone" Cheryl looked out her window to see if she could see anything

"Ok Cheryl, stay there for now, an Officer is a few minutes away" 

Cheryl could hear sirens in the distance shortly followed by flashing lights that lit up the road to her house. 

"I can see the car. He's just coming up my road" Cheryl felt a little a bit safer

"That's good. Is there anything else I can assist you with?"

No, you've been really helpful, thank you"

"You're welcome. Thank you for your call" 

Cheryl saw the Police car pulled up on the drive, she went over to her door and unlocked it then cautiously opened the door. She walked over to the staircase and saw two officers at the door with their guns slowly moving in to the house. The Officer in front told his colleague to low his gun once he saw Cheryl at the top of the staircase. 

"It's ok Miss, you can come down"

Cheryl tied up her dressing gown and walked downstairs to greet the officers.

"Thank you for coming over so quickly"

"No problem we was in the neighborhood. Can you please tell us what happened?" one of the officers took out his notepad and began writing on it.

"I don't know. I heard a bang which woke me up. I left my bedroom to see what caused it and I saw the door was open and the vase near it was broken. I was scared so I called you" Cheryl confessed

"Understandable. Is there anyone else staying with you Miss..." 

"Blossom. Cheryl Blossom. And no officer I am the only one in the house at the moment" 

"Ok Miss Blossom, do you mind if we look around?" 

"No of course, thank you"

"In the mean time is there anyone that can come over to keep you company for the rest of the night?" 

"Umm. I guess I can could ask my friend" 

"In cases like this it helps deal with the shock" he offered advice to her
