Nathan brought his car with him. I swiftly got inside and buckled my seat belt. By the time that he made sure that my seat was okay and I'm comfortable, that's when he only started the engine.
Nathan came from a wealthy family. In fact, his family is the wealthiest among all the families in this town.
His father is an honorable man. He is always present in any community activities.
I also never heard Nathan talking ill about his father. In fact, he is too proud of him.
Sana all may mabuting tatay.
That is why he pursued law school and aimed to be a lawyer. Like his father, he wanted to serve the public. And he has the same principles as mine. Kaya sobrang nagkakasundo talaga kaming dalawa.
"Gusto mo bang mag order muna tayo ng pagkain? Kahit drive thru lang sa fast food?" he asked as he swiftly maneuvered the steering wheel.
"Busog ako." I said and my eyes flew to his arms.
I saw that his veins in his arms were showing off.
Ang galing magbalanse ng career at healthy life style.
Sana all ulit.
We are still not handling any cases nor hired by law firms but we'll get there.
He needs to get behind those bars.
I never failed to thank Him every night, whenever I talk to Him, for bringing Nathan into my life.
My life felt so heavy, but he makes it lighter by his simple gestures and concerns for me.
They all judged me easily. No one really tried to see what's behind my cold aura, not until Nathan came.
Sometimes, I think what love I have for him was romantic, not platonic. But I would always shrug off the idea.
Ayaw ko nang masaktan. Ayaw kong pangunahan ang damdamin niya. Ayaw kong umasa.
I always remind myself that his gestures were like that because he is naturally kind.
I just let my mind run some thoughts as I lay my head on the window of Nathan's car.
The tall trees in our town was always a good sight. It's always been so refreshing for me.
"Hey, Ken. If you're not comfortable in answering their questions, feel free to disregard those, okay? Remember that you have the right to remain silent." He joked at the last part, which made the both of us laugh.
Kainis din itong si Natahan minsan, e.
"Pero, seryoso, Ken. You don't have to answer them if you're not feeling okay with it." He held my hand and squeezed it gently.
I nodded and smiled.
"Yup, I know what to do. Huwag ka masyadong mag-alala." I let out a small chuckle.
He smiled genuinely at me.
"Tara na?" he asked and I nodded.
We both went out of his car and because he is the son of the Mayor, he gained attention and special treatment.
"We'll wait for our turn. Sundin niyo kung anong tamang pila." Nathan said seriously.
The police nodded.
"Attorney Velasquez, dito na po kayo ma-upo." A man in his fifties offered his seat.
Nathan smiled and politely declined the man's offer.
Nathan pointed at the old lady who's currently talking to the officer at the women's desk.
"Bait mo talaga 'no?" Marahan ko siyang siniko sa gilid ko.
"Naturally born like this." Nagkibit balikat siya.
I bit the sides of my cheeks to hide my smile.
I shouldn't be nervous, alright.
Tama si Nathan. Ako ang biktima rito. Si Daddy dapat ang kinakabahan ngayon.
Nathan and I both stood up when the last person before us left. We walked towards the table of the women's desk.
The woman was not surprise to see the Mayor's son as she already heard the commotion earlier.
She gave out a warm smile to both Nate and I. I wanted to smile back but I couldn't. Not now that I'm already sweating bullets.
"Good day, Attorney Velasquez. And?" The officer asked.
I held out my hand as a sign of courtesy.
"Attorney Arce."
"And Attorney Arce. What can I do for you?" The officer smiled.
I glanced at Nathan and he nodded like it's a go signal.
Right.
This is it.
"I would like to file a case against Mateo Arce."
The woman started jotting down on her record book.
She stopped half way, maybe realizing that I'm filing a case against someone I know and someone I am related to.
She looked at me curiously.
"What type of case are you going to file against this man?"
That man.
That man is my father.
And I can't wait to see him paying for what he did to me.
I swallowed the lump in my throat before answering the query of the officer. Then, I looked at her in the eyes.
"Rape," I muttered.
