Ryan did his normal morning routine without much thought. He slipped on some clean clothes, and went in the living room. Where's Rachel?
He went outside and asked his sister's boyfriend, who looked confused.
"Isn't she with you?" Riku asked.
Ryan responded, "No, she wasn't inside, so I figured she was already with you."
"Maybe she went to Twilight Town."
They talked to Master Yen Sid.
Riku waited outside. He had a bad feeling about this.
The news Ryan received did nothing to ease his worries. He went back out and told his friend once they returned home.
"He said... she went to search for Maleficent."
What...? Rachel's missing?
Riku hated the thought-- that the girl he loved was out there on her own.
I have to do something. He reached out to transform into his recently acquired armor-- from Terra.
~flashback~
Riku went to the Land of Departure, and met up with Terra, who had secretly called him there.
"I wanted to give you something. My master Eraqus's Keyblade armor," said Terra, "now passed on to my successor."
"I-- I'm not... Are you sure about this?" Riku asked.
"You've been recognized by Yen Sid himself as a Keyblade master, and I know mine would have deemed you worthy of wearing his armor."
~now~
Ryan stopped him.
"I know," Riku muttered, "I don't always have to try to be the hero, huh? If I'm a true Keyblade Master..."
"You are. I need you here, all right? Anyway, Rachel's not the only reason I'm concerned."
"Huh?"
"...Do you remember when Ansem took control of me? Master Yen Sid said that left a mark on my heart."
Riku looked concerned for him. "You mean there's darkness in you?"
"Yeah. I have to find a way to get rid of it. I'll keep you updated, but you have to stay here."
Ryan switched into his armor, and flew off on his glider.
New places, new people. Questions of a loved one's fate. A life at risk.
A new journey was about to begin.
Riku continued to stare at the empty space in the air, where the gate once was, that had transported Ryan somewhere unknown.
"...Good luck."
