Rachel and her friend chased after the black and green dragon, finally catching up with her at the edge of a forest. She called Silver Hero to her hand, getting into a fighting stance as the woman turned human again.
"Okay, out with it! Where are the rest of my memories?"
"I do not have time for you," Maleficent sneered, "Dealing with you two would only be a waste of my time-- when I've already spent enough fighting that wretched girl. I must find the boy and wrest control of the darkness in his heart."
"Huh?" Rachel's stomach lurched. She'd sensed a change in her brother before leaving, but... could he really...?
"Who are you talking about?" She demanded.
She whirled her Keyblade into Maleficent, but then got knocked back hard.
She emitted a soft green glow for a moment, and a familiar warmth restored her strength.
"You okay?" asked Chicken Little.
"Yeah. Thanks."
Ryan stopped in his tracks, sighing as his shoulders drooped.
"I was really hoping things would start to get better," he muttered, "but... I just have this sinking feeling that it's only going to get worse from here."
He and his friends pressed on.
"No way..." Riku mumbled, spotting a girl in the distance.
There she was-- his love, his light... His entire world. He ran as fast as possible, but Heartless blocked the way-- a lot of them. Max stepped forward.
"You guys go on ahead. I can handle this."
The boys pushed through the Heartless until they spotted her again.
"Rae!"
She turned at the sound of... his voice, met Riku's gaze, and--
And then Maleficent struck her, and the girl started to fall. An incredibly bright white orb was drawn out of her chest.
"NO!!!" They screamed, and reached for her at the same time. She landed on her back, not even moving an inch.
The silver-haired boy dashed to her side, cradling her, but then she and Maleficent vanished.
Ryan glowered ahead, apparently at nothing, and Riku shook his shoulders. His friend was emanating a powerful darkness.
"What are you doing!? Snap out of it!"
"I told you to stay on the islands."
"No! Not while she's out there on her own."
"I wanted to be the one to save her for once, okay!?" Ryan blurted.
"...So that's why. You just wanted to be the hero, huh? By the way, that darkness..."
Riku jumped back and summoned his Keyblade.
"I thought... you were trying to get rid of it." He said coldly, "And as long as you continue to use it like that, you're a threat to her."
"That's ENOUGH!"
And so, the two friends clashed.
