Once I finish with this, I'll need to make preparations in case Maleficent really does pick a fight with me. I might be overthinking things, but it's better to overthink than to not think at all.
Not to mention... my dark power is overflowing. I'm doing everything I can just to keep it at bay.
I won't return home until I've completely destroyed it. But can that really be done?
They set out the next morning, only it was just the two of them: Rachel and Ryan.
"I'm going with you. What'd you expect?" said Riku.
"I don't think that's such a good idea." A voice interrupted. The girl in black walked into the room. "Do you think you would do well out there-- in your current state?"
"Sorry, kid." Ryan muttered. Riku scowled at him, then got a bit dizzy and had to lie back down.
"I'm not a kid." He grumbled.
"I know you want to stay with her, but you're hurt. You need to rest." said Ryan.
"...Go." said Riku. He closed his eyes, so that Rachel could not see how much pain they held. "I'll catch up with you once I'm better."
And off they went.
Riku got up to explore the house once he was well enough, sifted through some old books, but none of it could distract him from Rachel and Ryan.
"Are you worried about them?" She asked.
"...Ryan is in danger. He left looking just as exhausted as he was yesterday. His dark power feels stronger than ever-- I can sense it. But I can't do anything! I'm stuck here resting from a fight that I started. My reunion with Rachel was too short, and she's not at full strength either. I want to go with them, but... Sorry. I didn't mean to rant, but I..."
"You've really been carrying all of that? Must've felt good to let it out."
"Yeah... It did. So, what's your story?"
"...Well..."
"Can you handle this much?" Rachel asked her brother. They stood back to back, weapons at the ready as Heartless surrounded them.
"I..." Ryan sighed, "Well... I would have preferred not fighting at all. Strange to admit, but I'm avoiding getting stronger. I know what she wants from me, and I can't let it happen! But... she's not letting me out of here. Not unless I fight for it."
"I'll clear a path for you," said Rachel, "Then you can run for it without any unnecessary conflict. I've gotten stronger, too. I've learned some new tricks."
She put a barrier around Ryan, then rushed into the fray. It was interesting, seeing the new fighting techniques she'd learned. She could parry attacks now, it seemed.
"Ryan, go!" Rachel shouted.
Ryan broke through the barrier created by his sister and ran through the new path.
But then--
This was when Maleficent appeared.
Meanwhile, Riku was speaking with the girl in black.
"I've made my choice," she told him, "Do you think you're up for going out to find those two?"
"Yes, I think my wounds are all mostly healed."
And finally... the figure pulled down her hood.
He'd never seen her before, but the fact was... Her face looked very familiar. A young girl with silvery blonde hair and sparkling ice blue eyes-- eyes Riku would know anywhere.
"Take me to them," she said, "if that girl is who I think she is, then..."
"Wait-- what!?"
"Look, there's a... sliiiiight chance that I'm that girl's Nobody, so please just take me to her! I'm ready."
"...Okay."
"My name is Ravenna. It's nice to meet you, Riku."
