(A/N: This one's also kind of short)
Riku leapt out of the way. Ryan was trying to gain the upper hand by using his inner darkness and blocked with the Keyblade, an unfamiliar glint in his eye.
"What's happening to you!?" Riku flinched as he brought Braveheart down on his friend. This wasn't right. They should not have been fighting one another.
It's because of what I said. Riku looked away for a moment, guilt-ridden, and the grip on his Keyblade loosened. He didn't fight back as heavy blows landed on him, over, and over, and over.
Maybe I should let him win.
But instinct took over and the silver-haired boy blocked.
"Rrgh...! Look-- I'm sorry for what I said, but you can't use the darkness like this. I know it feels like it makes you stronger, but eventually you'll lose your heart and--"
"SHUT UP!!!"
He got thrown back hard, and struggled to find steady footing again, intense pain coursing through his side. At an attempt to heal, the Keyblade was knocked from his hand. Ryan picked it up, not giving a chance to react as he dealt a massive blow. He tossed Braveheart aside as the silver-haired boy's knees gave out. Riku struggled to get back up.
And that was when Max arrived. He watched in bewilderment, feeling helpless as they swung at each other.
"Stop!"
Riku turned, and then there was a slashing sound.
The young man was behind his opponent, on one knee with his Keyblade outstretched.
Riku collapsed with a thud, and the victor approached.
"So this is it huh? This is what I've been fighting."
Vision out of focus, he winced as Ryan lifted his chin with the Keyblade so their eyes met.
"Tell me-- how did you get your power? You know, the 'road to dawn'."
"That's... mine..."
Heart's Allegiance disappeared, and he lowered his head again, exhaling.
"Please, stop it...! If you want her to be safe at all.... I'm... begging you..." It's not just for her safety-- yours, too.
"I don't have time to stay here and listen to you ramble. I have to save my sister."
Ryan left. Riku kept trying to get back up to follow him, but it seemed in vain. Max was torn between following Ryan and helping the stranger.
"Rrgh... Go... S-stop him..."
"Alright. I'll see what I can do. Will you be okay?"
"It doesn't matter... Go. I'll catch up with you... i-if I can..."
"Right."
Max continued forward to pursue Ryan.
