"Your own master?!"
"No-- look, okay?! She is NOT my master. Heck no! There was a time when I was an IDIOT and thought she was right about everything. But not anymore. No. Way." Shira sighed, and went on. "You probably don't believe me--"
"Not at all." Ryan said coldly.
"Never mind, then. Let's get out of here."
The two of them raced down the hallway, avoiding blocks of crumbling stone wall. She climbed up onto a large pile of rubble and looked down at Ryan, extending an arm towards him.
"Take my hand-- I'll pull you up!"
"No." He glared at her.
"Look," she snapped, "there's not much time. You have to trust me!"
"...I can't. I'll find another way." he decided.
"Ryan, wait!!!"
He ran off in his own direction, and she had no choice but to do the same. When she made it out, there was no sign of him anywhere.
And the castle was about to fall.
"Come on... Get out of there." Several minutes passed and he didn't appear.
Then the castle fell. "Ryan!"
She dashed back into the ruin, looking frantically for that jerk-- the idiot who had decided to run off on his own.
"Which way did he go?" She retraced her steps to when they'd been separated, and found the path that Mr. I Don't Trust You So I'll Go My Own Way took.
"Oh no..."
He was lying under a pile of debris, his eyes shut and his body unmoving.
Shira was there in an instant. She moved the wreckage off of him and transformed. With Ryan across her back, she took him to his friends.
They all went into a fighting stance until she changed back, catching Max's attention.
"Ryan, wake up!" The girl said through clenched teeth, "Open your eyes, you jerk!"
"Who are you?" A silver-haired boy asked, "What happened?"
"I'm no one."
Ryan stirred a bit and opened his eyes with a small groan.
"This is why you should've listened to me." She told him.
"...Shira..."
"Who do you think knows that place better?"
"You never... left your cell..." He mumbled.
"I listened to the sound of Maleficent's footsteps to figure out the twists and turns of the castle."
Maleficent appeared, and Shira set down her friend. "I have something to take care of." She told him.
"You're going to take on... Maleficent...?"
"Yes." She looked up at the group of people watching. "Take him to Starfair City. Make sure he's safe, okay?"
"Right." A redheaded man scooped him up off the ground.
"S-somebody wake me when it's over..." Ryan muttered, then shut his eyes and went still.
After everyone left, the girl turned to face Maleficent, and transformed. The two of them took off into the sky, and the battle ensued.
