CHAPTER TWO — bother

TALIA GOT UP FOR THE NEXT DAY.She sat up on her bed and pushed herself off of the mattress. Then she started to get dressed for school. Isaac, Talia, and their father got the school early, as usual. Talia followed her brother Isaac back to the football again. She walked up to the bleachers and sat down with her sketchbook. She had started drawing on the pages, she started with the hand and then moved to what it was holding. It technically wasn't holding anything, it was holding fire in its hand. But not only that, Talia had started to draw the details on the hand, including the burn marks on it from the fire and the blood that was dripping from the hand.
Talia had finished her drawing by the time the bell had rung, she closed her sketchbook and put it in her backpack. She got off of the bleachers and started to walk toward the school, "Talia wait up!" She heard Theo calling behind her. Talia stopped and turned around with a smile on her face, "Hey, Theo!" She said excitedly. Theo smiled and ran up to her and put his arm around her shoulders, "Thought you were gonna leave without me," he said. They continued to walk together. While they walked through the halls, Theo still had his arm around Talias shoulder. Which made all the girls look at them. Theo looked at Talia, "You know all the girls think that we're dating," he said. Talia looked up at him, "Really?" She asked. Theo smirked and nodded, "Yeah," he said. Talia shook her head, "Well we're not" she said.
But in her mind, she wanted to be with him. Theo nodded, "Yeah we're not" he said. Talia cursed herself for saying something like that. She probably had just ruined her chance with Theo. But in the back of her mind she remembered the Homecoming dance that was in October. She had a long way to go till then, considering it was August. Talia and Theo walked into their first period and sat down at their seats. Jocelyn and Beth looked at her, "So now you're showing up to class with Theo's arm around your shoulder?" Jocelyn asked. Talia shook her head, "He doesn't even like me," she said. Beth shook her head, "I doubt that," she said.
At lunch, Jocelyn, Talia, and Beth decided to go to the football field instead of the cafeteria. Beth was sitting down, while Talia was laying against her, with her head on Beth's shoulder. Jocelyn was walking on the seats of the bleachers. It was a coincidence that the football team was also practicing while they were there. Jocelyn was looking at them then looked back at Talia, "Casanova is looking at you," she said. Talia sat up and looked at the football field to see that Theo was in fact looking at her. Talia turned away and looked up at Beth, "What do I do?" She asked. Beth shrugged, "I don't know I'm not a relationship person" she said. Talia shook her head, "It's nothing," she said. The twins nodded, "As long as he doesn't talk to you after practice," they said at the same time.
After lunch ended and the girls started to walk towards the school when Theo jogged up to them, "Talia," he said. Talia and the girls stopped, Jocelyn and Beth looked at her, "Good luck," they said then walked away. Talia turned around and looked at Theo, "Hey, Theo! What's up?" She asked. He shrugged, "Nothing much. I saw you and wanted to walk to class with you" he said. Talia smiled, "Okay," she said. Theo looked down as he smiled, "Okay," he said then they walked to their class together.
After school the family got back home. Talia walked up to her room and sat on her bed while she did her homework. A couple of minutes later, her phone rang. Talia grabbed her phone and looked at her phone, and saw it was the twins. She answered the phone, "What's up, my babies?" Talia asked. The girls laughed, "How was your talk with Theo?" Jocelyn asked. Talia shrugged, "It was cute, he wanted to walk with me to class," she said. She heard Beth "Awe, that's cute. Like a typical high school romance"she said. Talia scoffed, "Hey, are you guys done with your homework?" She asked. The twins responded, "Yeah, why?" They asked. Talia shrugged and got up from her bed, "I don't know. Do you want to have an old fashion game of-" "Basketball!" The twins cut off Talia. Talia laughed, "So is that a yes?" She asked. The twins said, "obviously."
Talia and the twins walked to the basketball court that was in their neighborhood. Talia had brought the basket ball they used to play with. The girls were in their workout clothes, ready to play a game. Talia started and ended up winning against both of the twins. They started to walk back to Talias house, "How come you always beat us at basketball?" they asked. Talia chuckled, "Maybe you two need to get better at it," she said with a smile. The twins looked at Talia, "Hey!" they shouted.
They all got back to Talias house and went up to her room. They locked the door and jumped onto Talias bed, "Hey! Don't break my bed," she said. The twins looked at her, "I'm sure you'll break it with Theo," Beth said. Talia ran and jumped onto them, "Ow! I think you broke my bones" Jocelyn said. Talia laughed, "Better than breaking my bed" she said. The trio sat on Talias bed talking about random things, like school, boys (especially Theo), and art class. Jocelyn laid on her stomach with her head propped up on her hands, "So Talia, did Mr. Nickson decide which of your paintings he was going to put in the Columbia University art show?" Beth asked. Talia looked around her room, "He said he wanted Venomous Bite," she said.
