CHAPTER SEVEN — ignited

A NARRATOR VOICE broke the silence in the car, "New York. Queens," Peter said in a narrator's voice. Talia turned her head slowly toward Peter and saw him holding his phone up, "It's a rough borough, but hey, it's home" he continued. Happy looked at him through the partition, "Who are you talking to? I know you're not talking to Talia like that," he said. Talia looked toward Happy and smirked. Peter moved his camera toward Happy, "I'm not. I'm just making a little video of the trip" Peter said in his normal voice. Happy continued to look at Peter through the rearview mirror, "You know you can't show it to anyone," he said. Peter nodded, "Yeah, I know," he said. Happy couldn't figure out why Tony had chosen this kid, "Then why are you narrating in that voice?" he asked. Peter shrugged as Talia chuckled, "Uh... Because it's fun" he said in a high-pitched tone. Happy nodded, "Fun," he said as he slowly put on his sunglasses. Happy probably thinks this whole situation is the opposite of fun. He put on his sunglasses and solemnly looks out the windshield, "So, uh, why do they call you Happy?" Peter asked. Happy raised the limo's partition and Talia smiled. Talia scooted down in her chair more and put her foot against the passenger seat in front of her, "So Peter, how'd you get your powers?" she asked looking over at him. Peter stopped recording and put his phone down. He looked over at Talia and immediately his heart started to race, by how beautiful she really was up close, "Uh..." he started. Talia chuckled and rolled her head back, "Oh come on! If we're going to be on the same team you gotta trust me" she said. Peter shook his head, "It's not that I don't trust you. It's just that... you're like really pretty and I get nervous" he said. Talia's heart fluttered knowing that he found her beautiful, "No reason to be nervous. You're not too bad yourself. If you tell me how you got your powers, I'll show you mine" she said facing Peter. Peter looked up at her when he heard her say that she thought he was attractive too, "I got bit by a radioactive spider six months ago and it gave me my powers" he explained. Talia nodded, "That's cool. Now here I'll show you mine" she said. Talia held up her hand and the phoenix force emerged from her hand. Peter was fascinated by it, mesmerized by it. Her powers were extraordinary.

THE CAR STOPPED and Talia hid her powers, she knew if Happy told Tony that she was using her powers to show off, she would be in trouble. The back door on Talia's side opened and she was greeted by Happy, "Come on kiddo, we got a plane to catch," he said. Talia smiled and got out of the car. Peter pulled out his phone camera and started recording again, he opened his door and met with Happy at the back of the car, "Come on. I'm not carrying your bags. Let's go" Happy said opening the car trunk. Talia had already started making her way to the plane. Peter grabbed his bags and followed after Happy, "Hey, should I go to the bathroom before?" he asked. Happy looked back momentarily, "There's a bathroom on it," he said. Talia had sat down in the seat in the middle of the plane. Peter walked toward the cockpit and saw that there were no pilots, "Whoa. No pilot? That's awesome" he said still recording. Happy sat down in his seat and Peter sat directly across from him, "Is that where you're gonna sit?" he asked. Peter exhaled, "Yeah," he said. Happy looked at him in disbelief, "This is your first time on a private plane?" he asked. Peter shrugged, "My first time on any plane," he said. Happy exhaled in frustration, "Sit by Talia," he said pointing at her. Talia smirked and chuckled at Happy's frustration. Peter walked over and sat down across from Talia. The plane started to get ready to take off, "Should it...? Should it be...? Should it be making that noise?" he asked frantically. Talia leaned over and grabbed his hand, "Relax. You're fine" she said. Peter turned off the camera, Talia took her hand off of his and leaned back in her chair. A couple of hours later, they were halfway to Berlin. Talia watched as Peter started to film again. He had walked up to Happy. Peter turned the camera toward himself, he put a finger to his lips and made a shushing sound. He turned the camera to face Happy, he had gotten the camera an inch away from Happy's face before he jerked in his sleep. Talia chuckled quietly. Happy had started to wake up, Peter ran toward his seat, and he and Talia pretended to be asleep.

ONCE THEY WERE off the plane Happy led both teenagers through Berlin. Peter had his camera turned on. He had kept wanting to wander around so Talia grabbed his hand and made sure he stayed with her. Peter was surprised that she had grabbed his hand, but what also surprised him was how right it felt, so he held her hand the whole time. They walked by monuments, Peter had stopped recording momentarily to take a picture of him and Talia in front of the Soviet War Memorial statue. Peter put his arm around Talia's shoulder and pulled her closer to him. Talia wrapped her arm around Peter's waist and leaned her head on his shoulder. They both smiled for the camera and then ran hand in hand to catch up with Happy. The three of them eventually got to the hotel and they got up to the rooms. Happy passed one of the rooms and pointed at it, "This is you" he said. Peter looked at Happy who was entering his own room, "Oh, we're neighbors?" he asked excitedly. Happy looked at him, "We're not roommates. Suit up" he said. Peter opened the door to his room. Peter felt as if something was wrong, then he realized the beautiful redhead that was with him the whole time had let go of his hand. Peter turned around to see what was wrong. Talia pulled out her phone that had buzzed. Her mother had texted her that she was at the hotel to pick her up.

HE TOOK A STEP toward her, "Is everything ok?" He asked. Talia looked up at him, a sparkle appeared in her eyes because of Peter's concern for her, "I'm fine. My mom is here to pick me up, have to get ready" she said with a smile. Peter's eyes dropped for a second, sadness overwhelmed him when he realized she had to leave him. Peter put away his phone into his pocket and grabbed Talia's hand, "Will I see you again?" He asked. Talia looked up at him and give him a slight smile, "Of course you will. Just listen to Happy" she said. Talia turned on her heel and started to walk away with Peter's hand still in hers. But Peter couldn't let go of her hand and that stopped her in her tracks. She turned around and gave him a reassuring smile, "I'll see you soon, okay?" She asked. Peter nodded and reluctantly let go of her hand. Talia turned around and walked down the hallway, Peter watched as the girl of his dreams turned the corner and was out of sight. Talia reached the elevator and stepped in. Once, the doors closed behind her she leaned against the railing and let out the breath she hadn't realized she had been holding. She looked up at the ceiling and smiled, thinking about the brunette boy she had just parted from. Talia stepped out of the elevator when the doors opened and she was in the lobby. She walked out of the hotel and quickly spotted her mother in one of Tony's cars. Talia walked over and opened the passenger side door and got into the car. Natasha greeted her daughter and pressed on the gas, "So how's the kid?" She asked. Natasha peered over at her daughter for a second and caught a certain look in those green eyes of hers, Love. Talia smirked thinking about Peter, "Absolutely adorable, sweet as they come, perfect" she said in a hazy tone. Natasha smirked, "In love already? And here I thought it would be Barnes you'd fall for" she said. Talia whipped her head in her mothers direction, "In love? Not yet. And Bucky? I don't know about that" she said. Natasha nodded as she kept looking at the road. Talia perched her elbow on the doors arm rest. She laid her head on the hand and looked out the window. Her thoughts ran wild of the Spider-Boy.
