CHAPTER FOUR — tests

TALIA STAYED IN HER ROOM TILL THE NEXT DAY. She was scared, she didn't know why she was there and why they would want her. She sat on her bed and looked out the window she had in her cell. Then the door opened and a man stood there, "It is time," he said. Talia stood up, the man came over to her and grabbed her arm and led her to a little room, and closed the door. Talia was shaken up she didn't know what to do. She could have fought her way out because of her father's training but it was useless now.
The men on the other side of the glass stood there waiting to open the door, "Doctor are you sure this is the one?" He asked. The doctor nodded, "It has to work this time," he said. The assistant was hesitant, "There were 87 others before her, they all died, how are you sure she is the one?" He asked. The doctor pressed the button and the door opened. Talia turned around and looked at the room in front of her. The doctor pressed the button for the intercom, "Walk into the room and touch the material," he said. Talia slowly walked into the room, "What is it?" She asked. The doctor and his assistant shared looks, "It's called the Phoenix Force, it's the most powerful force in the universe. Now walk up to the tube and touch it" he said. Talia walked closer.
When she was about halfway into the room. The Phoenix Force came out of the tube, and the doctor and his assistant looked astonished. The force came up to Talia and showed her what she would become. Talia was about to reach her hand up to the force. But the Phoenix Force basted into her. Talia's arms flew open and she started to scream as it entered her.

The doctor and his assistant grew worried. Talia continued to scream until the Phoenix Force was fully inside of her. Once it disappeared, Talia fell to the ground unconscious. The doctor looked at her, "That's never happened, it has never come out of the tube. It turned everyone else to ash" his assistant said. The doctor smiled, "Indeed," he said. He ran out of the room and into the room Talia was in. He bent down to her and checked for her pulse, "She's still alive, put her in isolation next to the twins. Keep her under supervision at all times" he said.
The guards came in and put Talia on a stretcher and wheeled her through the hallways to the isolation rooms. They put her in the room and onto the bed. They walked back out and locked the door. Wanda and Pietro Maximoff were in the cells next to her, "Pietro? Who do you think it is?" Wanda asked through the vents connecting their rooms together. Pietro stood up, "I have no idea sister, we'll find out eventually," he said then went back to his bed and fell asleep. Wanda stood up and went over to the vent that was on the wall. She was about to see through it since it was at her height level, "Hello?" She asked in a whisper. She could see a glimpse of Talia on her bed unconscious. Wanda felt bad for the girl, she looked about 14 years old.

Talia opened her eyes two days later. Her eyes were sparkling with glowing orange lacing her green eyes. Her eyes stopped glowing and she sat up on her bed. Talia felt dizzy, like the worst migraine. Talia stood up on her feet and almost fell if it wasn't for a red force that was holding her up. Talia saw where it was coming from, the vent. Talia walked over to the vent and saw a woman staring back at her, "Did you do that?" Talia asked. Wanda nodded, "I didn't want you to fall," she said. Talia smiled slightly, "What's your name?" She asked. Wanda smiled over at Talia, "Wanda, my twin brother Pietro is on the other side of me. What's your name?" she asked. Talia looked at the other vent, "Talia. What are they doing to us?" She asked.
Wanda shrugged, "They're making us into superheroes. But you see, you have the best power of them all," she said. Talia looked at her confused, "What do you mean?" She asked. Wanda pointed at her, "The Phoenix Force. We overheard the doctors. It's inside of you, they said it was drawn to you. And you're still alive, we've seen people come and go in body bags and ash piles after they came into contact with that power, but not you" she explained. Talia's head was running in circles, she didn't understand anything that Wanda was saying, "So you're telling me, I'm the only person that has survived after being in contact with the Phoenix Force?" She asked causing Wanda to nod.
Wanda looked at Talia, "How do you feel?" She asked. Talia shook her head, "Like there's something inside of me and it's growing," she said. Wanda nodded, "It's making you stronger, more powerful" she said. Talia backed away from the vent and looked around then her eyes landed on the camera in the corner, "They're keeping us under constant watch," Wanda said. Talia walked up to the camera and looked at it, "What is happening to me?" she asked the camera. The intercom came on, "You are evolving," the doctor said.
The doctor watched Talia's room on the monitor. He watched as Talia sat on her bed and held her head in pain. Wanda was worried about Talia. Talias head was in utter pain, "It's so loud here" she whispered. All Talia heard were loud voices coming from every direction. She heard the doctor's voice, "She's going to be our greatest weapon," he said. She could hear the assistant too, "Indeed doctor you are a genius," he said. Talia tried so hard to keep the voices out of her head, she finally lowered them to a faint whisper, "Wanda are you awake?" She asked. Wanda got up from her bed a d walked over to the vent, "Yeah I'm here," she said. Talia got up and walked over to the vent and looked at Wanda, "I don't know what's going on," she said. Wanda felt bad for Talia, "What are you feeling Talia?" She asked.
Talia shook her head, "Like everything is turned up," she said. Wanda used her powers to unscrew the screws on both of the vents, she took it off of the wall and sat it down on the ground. Wanda looked back at Talia, as she took the vent cover off of the other side. Wanda reached her hand through the vent and Talia did the same. Their hands met and they held them, "I'm here for you. We're in this together" Wanda said. Talia smiled.
