CHAPTER TWELVE — no one left

SHE HAD RETURNED TO THE COMPOUND. T'Challa was gracious enough to give her a ride back in the jet he used to get to Siberia. Talia left Tony in Siberia for obvious reasons. She did not want to see his face for a while. She walked through the front door and up to the main living area where she saw Vision sitting on one of the sofas holding a chess piece in his hand while sulking. Talia shook her head and sighed as she walked over,
"You look like you're having fun," she said. Vision looked over at her as she got closer to him,
"I'm glad to see that you are back," he said. Talia rolled her eyes playfully and plopped down on the sofa,
"Not with good news, I'm afraid," she said. Vision put down the chess piece and looked at her curiously,
"What do you mean?" he asked. Talia exhaled and recalled the events that happened in the last 24 hours,
"There's no hope for Steve and Tony. The Avengers are finished. Not to mention, Tony killed me," she said casually. Vision's eyes widened,
"I beg your pardon?" he asked. Talia nodded and picked up one of the white chess pieces,
"Yep, I fell from probably 70 or 80 feet onto my back. My skull was cracked open, blood everywhere. I think I was out for... ten minutes maybe, maybe longer. Can't remember, obviously," she said the finished her sentence with a smirk. Vision was appalled, how could Tony do that to her? To a child?
"Do you feel alright?" he asked. Talia shrugged putting down the chess piece,
"I feel... great. Better than I did before. I wish Bruce was here. He could run a diagnostic on my brain," she said. Vision stood up,
"I can do that for you," he said. Talia stood up and followed Vision to the lab.

Talia sat on the table and waited for Vision to hand over the EKG patches. When he did she placed one on the left side of her chest and the other on the right side, then she laid down. Vision came around and put two smaller patches on both of her temples and then turned the machine on. He stood there looking at her brain waves and her power readings,
"That is not possible," he whispered. Talia could hear from the machine that her heart rate had increased,
"What?" she asked looking at him. She could hear the thoughts going through his head,
"It seems as though when you died and came back to life, it was a form of rebirth. The entire chemistry of your powers has changed," he explained. Everything he ever says is like a math question,
"What the hell does that mean?" she asked. Vision turned and looked at Talia,
"You are much more powerful than you have ever been," he said. Talia sat up and looked at the screen herself and was taken aback by how it looked. Her brain waves were hitting the top of the screen at a rapid pace. Her power readings were like nothing she had ever seen before. How could dying make her stronger?

BACK IN HER ROOM, she laid down on her bed and took time to process what she had just heard. She was scared, she honestly didn't know if she was ready for more power than she had already possessed. Anytime she was scared, she would go to her mother, Steve, or Wanda. But none of them were there, they were gone. She had been so stressed that she had forgotten to sleep in the last 72 hours. She tried to calm down as best as she could and eventually closed her eyes. Two hours later, her heart rate started to pick up and she started to hyperventilate. She began to twitch and scrunch up her forehead. Anyone from the outside would see this as a bad dream but that isn't what this was. Images were flashing through Talia's head, all in a fiery orange tone. She saw an attack on Earth, six stones in a gauntlet, dead bodies floating in space, five shadow figures, and dust being blown through the streets.
