CHAPTER THREE — guilt card

THE ACCORDS MOCKED TALIA. She sat on the couch even when everyone left to go about their day. She stared at the accords and the signatures. James Rhodes, Tony Stark, Vision, Natasha Romanoff. She didn't want to sign it for Wanda. But when her mother signed it, she was held at a cross roads. Tony walked past the living room but walked back when he saw Talia still sitting on the couch. He walked in and saw she was staring at the accords,
"Are you going to sign it?" He asked. Talia looked up at him and shrugged,
"My mom made this, make sense. These accords will tear us apart, I can already see it happening. Steve's not gonna sign it, Sam will stick by Steve's side no matter what. If Wanda signs, they'll make her go back to Sokovia. If we sign this and some of us won't, there will be no Avengers" she explained then looked back down.

TONY SHRUGGED, he knew Talia wouldn't listen to him,
"You will never be enough to be a hero, and somewhere deep down I think you know that" he said. Talia's head shot up at him, he could see the tears building up in her eyes. He saw her eyes glow for a split second then return back to normal. He shook his head and walked up to the couch and leaned over it,
"But with the Sokovia Accords, you can be a hero. You just got your mother back, do you want to loose her again by not signing?" He asked. Talia could feel herself getting more angry because he was manipulating her. Talia looked down at the accords in anger. She picked up the pen and signed on the line.
𝙏𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙖 𝙍𝙤𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙛𝙛. She stood from the couch and angrily walked to her room. When she approached her door, she swung it open with her powers. Once she was in her room, the door slammed shut behind her. She sat down in the middle of her bed and started to sob.

TONY HAD JUST CONFIRMED the thoughts she had about herself to be true. She was never going to be a hero. The accords wouldn't make her a hero but she didn't want to leave her mother. Tony stayed in the living room and Rhodey walked up to him,
"You didn't have to go that far with her. She's a kid" he said. Tony shook his head,
"I had to. The Avengers needs her kind of power. If she didn't sign it that would mean she'd be against us. She may not want to be a hero, but she wants to be with her mother" he explained to Rhodey. Then he walked out of the room.

NATASHA AND TALIA had flown to London to comfort Steve. Talia stayed in the jet and thought about what Tony had said about her. Natasha walked into the church to see Steve leaning up against one of the pews,
"When I came out of the ice, I thought everyone I had known was gone. Then I found out that she was alive. I was just lucky to have her" he said. Natasha stood across from him,
"She had you back, too" she said with a smirk. Steve looked down then up at Natasha,
"Who else signed?" He asked. Natasha stood up straighter,
"Tony. Rhodey. Vision. Talia" she said. Natasha was happy that Talia had signed it. Steve knew better, Talia wouldn't have signed it,
"Tony probably pulled the guilt card with Hope. Clint?" He asked. Natasha smiled slightly,
"Says he's retired" she said. Steve looked away for a moment and looked back at the redhead,
"Wanda?" He asked. Natasha looked up at him,
"TBD. Talia and I are off to Vienna for the signing of the Accords. There's plenty of room on the jet" she said. Steve sighed and bowed his head,
"Just because it's the path of least resistance doesn't mean it's the wrong path. Staying together is more important than how we stay together" She said. Natasha knew she was convincing herself that, that was the truth,
"What are we giving up to do it?" He asked. She sighs. Steve shook his head, unconvinced,
"I'm sorry, Nat. I can't sign it" he said. Natasha nodded,
"I know" she said. Steve looked up at her and paused,
"Then what are you doing here?" He asked. Natasha wasn't the best person for comfort but for Steve, she would be,
"I didn't want you to be alone" she said as she pulled him in for a hug. Steve sighed,
"Tell Hope I said 'Hi'" he said. Natasha chuckled,
"I will" she said.
