CHAPTER EIGHT — deception

TALIA HAD GOTTEN ready for the fight and was waiting at the airport with her mother, standing next to her. Tony and Rhodey were airborn. Talia watched as Steve ran toward the helicopter but stopped when Tony blasted it with electricity. Tony landed on the ground and Rhodey followed after, "Wow, it's so weird how you run into people at the airport. Don't you think that's weird?" He asked while his helmet disengaged. Rhodey looked over at him, "Definitely weird," he said. Steve looked at Tony, "Hear me out, Tony. That doctor, the psychiatrist, he's behind all of this" he said. T'Challa leaped out from behind a truck, "Captain," he said standing up straight. Steve looked toward T'Challa, "Your highness," Steve said. Tony looked at Steve, "Anyway, Ross gave me 36 hours to bring you in. That was 24 hours ago. Can you help a brother out?" he asked walking to the other side of Rhodey. Steve was getting irritated because Tony wouldn't listen to him, "You're after the wrong guy," he said. Talia and Natasha started to walk toward where everyone was, "Your judgment is askew. Your old war buddy killed innocent people yesterday" Tony said. Steve cut Tony off, "And there are five more super soldiers just like him. I can't let the doctor find them first, Tony. I can't" he said shaking his head. Natasha and Talia revealed themselves, Steve turned his head to look at Natasha, "Steve . . . you know what's about to happen. Do you really wanna punch your way out of this one?" she asked. Steve shifted his gaze to his favorite girl, "You can still come with me Hope..." he said. Talia's face shifted to sadness, "I wish I could," she said inside of Steve's mind. But on the outside she said, "You didn't have to do this Steve." Steve knew Talia wanted nothing more than to join him, but she wouldn't let herself because of her mother.

TONY COULDN'T BELIEVE what Steve was doing. It's like he didn't care about any of them besides Talia, "All right, I've run out of patience. Underoos!" Tony said with his hands up. Peter swung down from the top of the building and shot a web at Steve's shield and his wrists. Peter landed on the truck next to Tony with Steve's shield in his hand, "Nice job, kid," Tony said. Steve looked at Peter as he stood up on the truck, "Thanks. Well, I could've stuck the landing a little better. It's just the new suit... Well, it's nothing, Mr. Stark. It's--it's perfect. Thank you" he rambled. Talia shook her head with a smile on her face at his cuteness. All eyes were on Peter, "Yeah, we don't really need to start a conversation," Tony said. Peter turned his head and looked at Steve, "Okay. Cap . . . Captain. Big fan, I'm Spider-Man" he stuttered. Tony waved a hand over to him, "Yeah, we'll talk about it later. Just..." he said getting cut off by Peter's shyness. Peter looked around at everyone, "Hey, everyone," he said waving his hand. Tony nodded his head, "Good job," he said. Steve focused on Tony and smirked, "You've been busy," he said. Tony turned his head to look at Steve, "And you've been a complete idiot. Dragging in Clint. 'Rescuing' Wanda from a place she doesn't even want to leave, a safe place. I'm trying to keep . . . I'm trying to keep you from tearing the Avengers apart" he strained. Steve nodded, "You did that when you signed," he said. Talia could feel that Tony was getting impatient, she could see the literal twitch in his eye, "Alright, We're done. You're gonna turn Barnes over, you're gonna come with us. NOW! Because it's us! Or a squad of J-SOC guys . . . with no compunction about being impolite" he explained. Steve looked to the side at Talia. Everyone watched as Talia and Steve made eye contact, Talia was pleading with Steve with her eyes, "Come on" Tony muttered. Talia could hear a whirling sound, she looked up and saw Redwing in the air, "We found it. Their Quinjet's in hanger five, north runway" she heard Sam say through Steve's earpiece.
