'We should start heading back now,' I voiced, we had been sitting on the bench gazing at the stars for atleast half and hour now and it was getting dark, actually it was dark.
'Aww do we have to..'
'Yes.' my tone was authoritive with no tolerence for hesitation, the atmosphere was creeping me out and my only comfort was Alex. With a grunt we both rose to our feet and turned around so we were now facing the life threatening forest.
'Let's go!' Alex sighed grabbing my hand and pulling me forward but came to a halt when he noticed I wasn't moving.
'I can't go in there...' I whispered my breathcoming out in dainty rasps.
'Oh come on pineapple you're not scared are you?' he asked in a teasing manner. I didn't have the courage to give any snappy comebacks so just stood silent once again rooted to the same spot just glaring into the eerie forest.
'Alex please isn't there any other route?' I begged.
'Pineapple if there was I wouldn't make you go through this one, please just trust me I'm here nothing will happen to you!' he assured me coming closer and tilting my chin upwards to meet his gaze.
'I'm not sure, with what happened last time and all-' I was cut of when Alex bent forward and lifted me into his arms his muscles flexing with his actions.
'Wait what are you doing?' I questioned pushing myself slightly away.
'This will make you feel safe and technically you won't have to walk through the forest because I will be carrying you...' he explained holding me tighter into him. I smiled to show my assurance and he started walking. The simple snap of twigs beneath his feet had me trembling so I snuggled into him and concentrated on his heart beats.
'Aren't you afraid?' I asked, curiousity getting the best of me.
'When you get abandoned by a distraught mother, get left with a drunk father and heartless brother you learn to accept lifes dangers...' he replied sadly. The next few minutes flew in comfortable silence.
'We're here,' he announced placing me softly down as we set foot in the cottage in comfortable silence.
'So...you want to watch some television?' I suggested and got a shrug of shoulders as a reply.
'Sure, how about a film?' he continued the conversation. I didn't waste anytime and fast walked to the dvd selection my options were the following:
1) The Notebook
2) Final Destination
3) The Ghost of Girlfriends Past
'Lets watch The Notebook!' I exclaimed in delight picking up the dvd and waving it in his face.
'Aww not that soppy story ew!' he grimaced picking up the Final Destination dvd instead.
'Now this is more like it!' he winked a smile present on his handsome face.
'No we are watching The Notebook!' I argued, already opening the dvd case and inserting it. Soon the dvd ejected and I looked towards Alex who was now seated on the sofa, a remote in his hand pointed towards the dvd player.
'I don't think so,' I snapped pressing close again but having it open mere seconds after.
'This can go on forever you know!' I commented repeating my actions and him doing the same.
'Nahh I think you're going to give up soon enough,' he smirked. We continued the same thing for the next 5 minutes and I grunted in frustration.
'You know what instead of breaking the dvd player lets settle this the adult way,' I said in a playful tone.
'Oh so like wrestling because I would love to do that with you pineapple...' he whispered huskily. I was so used to his lame pick up lines that I managed to not evenfaintly blush this time.
'No of course not stupid! I was talking about rock, paper and scissors!' I grinned evily. He raised an eyebrow then burst into a laughter so lous I swear people would mistake it for an earthquake.
'Tha..tha...thats your 'adult' way o..of settl...settling things?' he managed to ask through his giggles.
'So what? Why, you scared?' I challenged, my voice not faltering once.
'Of course not pineapple lets settle it your way then and if you lose we watch Final Destination and you have you do whatever I want until 10 o'clock tomorrow morning!' he grinned his face showing his equally coniving thoughts.
'Fine but the same rules apply to you,' I warned.
'Fine.'
'Fine.'
'Good.'
'Good.'
'Shut up lets just get this over with,' I exclaimed walking over to the sofa. We played the game and I won but the dickhead wouldn't shut up so I had to agree to best two out of three. In the end I still won but let him have the satisfaction of one round. After convincing him I was no cheat we both claimed the sofa and let the movie begin. The next few hours of my life were going to be very, very entertaining I thought to myself, as Alex shivered beside me as if aware of my evil thoughts.
