Separated
The bus came to a sudden halt and I was snatched away from dreamland and back into reality, with a groan I stretched my arms shaking Alex for him to awaken too. Jheez he was a heavy sleeper! After several attempts he finally woke up a smile on his face at the sight of my face. Three men got on the bus, all with the same dangerous look on their faces. The first was the tallest with brad shoulders, ebony coloured hair and dark balckish eyes. His face was slightly tanned and paired with chapped light pink lips, and he wore a black comforter with worn out jeans and boots. The two men behind looked very similar to eachother with the same black hair and dark green eyes, well built bodies and equally rugged boots.
For some reason I had a very bad feeling about this and so ducked back further into my seat and looking out the window in a way of camouflaging myself from them. From the corner of my eyes I could see one of them glancing my way, his eyes scrutinizing my every move. So I did what any other person would do...I simply pretended to be unaware of his distressing presence. Alex placed a comforting hand on mine and as I took a content sigh and curled into him. The man took one last glance at me then walked over to the other two men who were questioning some frightened people at the back of the bus. I felt the grip on my hand tighten and I looked up at Alex to see what had happened, he had worry lines on his forehead and his eyes seemed worried.
'RUN,' he whispered taking a big gulp and looking me dead straight in the eyes.
'What? I can't leave you!' I hissed back making sure to keep my voice as low as possible.
'You heard me, you have to run please don't worry about me...seriously...remember that restaurant we went to on our first date? Well if you follow this road and turn on your first right then you will see it there and next to it there's an alleyway in which you will find a hideout but, it will be camouflaged by a green garbage chute. Jump inside and you will find yourself in a room, once you get in stay in the room till tomorrow and then you can leave and go straight home, I'm sure your parents are back and will be worried so you'll be safe with them!' he explained hurridly making sure I understood well. Seeing the desperation in his eyes I nodded my head and ran out of the bus not looking back, knowing that it would make me stop and turn back. I heard a commotion and Alex shout something at them as they ordered him to move aside.
Following his instructions I soon found myself breathless in the alleyway, searching around for the green chute and finding it hidden beneath a few cardboard pieces. Opening the lid I found well abstruse steps nailed to the side of the wall going down and getting swallowed by the darkness. Praying to God for Alex to be okay I descended down the steps closing the lid just in time to hear a few angry footsteps nearby. There were some angry grunts but then the noise disappeared altogether as my feet touched the hard stone floor. My heartbeats were frantic as even though I was physically here my mind was miles away with Alex. Was he alright? What had they done to him? What state is he in? Does he need my help? All these questions scurried in my mind as I felt around for a light switch. After 10 long minutes of feeling my fingers finally fell upon a switch which flicked all a single light on highlighting the dim, dingy room.
There was a fridge on one side of the room and a sofa and small TV on the other. There was a desk with a monitor on it which showed the images of the outside world, so I guessed a secret camera had been installed outside to keep monitor of the activities going on out there. Some other furniture included plates, few cups and spoons. A small radiator was on the side of the room which I turned on. The room was extremely cold as I rubbed my hands on the side of my arms to create warmth quick and warm myself. Turning the TV on to distract myself I turned the new on hoping I didn't find out any bad news on Alex, of him meeting an accident. Not being able to take it anymore I crossed my fingers and flicked through the channels stopping on one in particular. The Notebook. It was on, memories flooded back as I remembered just yesterday we were watching this together so snuggled into eachother and unaware of the world outside. Now look at the mess we were in! I was trapped in this hideout to save my life and Alex was out somewhere fighting for my survival.
The droplets of salty water were now freely trickling down my flustered face as I chocked on my own sobs which echoed through the empty room. Curling into a tight ball I cried myself to sleep praying that nothing should happen to Alex and if something would happen then it would be me.
