Chapter 28 (Dinner Surprise)

Hey guys just to let you know Angela is the name of Ani's step mom the good one so yeah thats about it and this is and extra long chapter so enjoyyyy! ;) x Oh and a spoiler look out for Alex in the next chapter! ;) x

The first thing I realised as I shut the door behind me was the mouth watering smell of my mums surprise casserole. Don't ask me why it's called a surprise you will only find that out after tasting it. She always seemed to have a few tricks up her sleeve even when she was my nanny. Her hair was splayed messily across her face and she had sauce smeared on her face and apron. I laughed at her state as she jumped around with the steaming casserole she was transporting on the cooling rack with her bunny oven mits.

'Ani you're back!' she greeted with a heart warming smile while I walked over to the counter and heaved myself onto it picked a carrot from the tasty dish.

'Hey no food before are all here!' she scolded lightly as I stuck my tongue out chewing on the carrot anyway. It was hard to even imagine her angry but then again I was a good child.

'Ooo somones being the family head..' I teased as she rolled her eyes and handed me a few plates and other utensils. Dumping my bad on the sofa while she gave me a stern look I continued to lay out all the cutlery while advancing light chit chat, 'Speaking of the head where's dad?' I questioned curiously as she stopped for a second and then carried on with the food.

'He had some work to do so he will be coming a bit later any minute now don't worry!' she chirped but it was obvious to see she was hiding something from me. Not wanting to push the subject any further I diverted the topic to my day at school and accidently spilled on my detention with Mr. Katia.

'What you had a detention today! Why?' she asked her voice surprised at this sudden revelation. I bit my tongue in annoyance at the fact that I had told her that but got saved by the sound of the bell.

'That must be dad I'll get it!' I screamed heading towards the door as she tried to stop me but I was far to quick. With a huge smile on my face I swung the door open and was getting ready to embrace my dad but got greeted by the repulsive face of a grinning Chace. I controlled the urge to let my jaw snap and fall to the floor but instead took a deep breath and moved to the side greeting my dad through gritted teeth and Chace with extra coldness. This got me an icy glare from my father but he put it aside and just kissed me on the cheek heading inside as I closed the door behind them praying to God there was a good reason for his arrival.

'So Chace I've heard you graduated with top degree's in business from Harvard itself?' my mum asked so sweetly that it made me sick. I couldn't believe that the person I loathed the most in the entire world was seated opposite me, tucking into a meal made by my very own mother.

'Yes maam you got that right, I always did have a passion for becoming a big man,' he replied swiftly with a light chuckle as my dad followed patting him on the back.

'You know Ani also has a great interest in business and I would like her to learn a few tricks myself, even her cretive side is quite fascinating I believe it would do wonders for my company!' he said in his friendly demeanour as I snapped my head upwards at the mention of my name. I smiled and looked back down to my untouched plate of food that had once had me losing my senses.

'Ani you haven't touched your food is everything okay?' my dad questioned me with a frown as I shook my head to signal a 'no' and immedietly picked up a carrot and chewed on it mechanically, then gulped it down forcefully. I could feel Chace's intense glare on me as it just made me want to run upstairs.
