The lights in the hospital were bright as we walked in, a stark contrast from the dark night sky outside. My heart was beating erratically in my chest as I walked through the hospital doors, feeling the familiar smell of antiseptic wash over me, and nausea overcome me. As I walked up to the receptionist my throat feeling dry and prickly I felt Alex's hand slip into mine as his thumb caressed my hand comfortingly.

'We are looking for a Seth Meyers..' Alex begun before we were interrupted by a shrill voice calling out my name.

'Steph,' I breathed out, letting go of Alex's hand temporarily to embrace Steph in a hug. I was a second away from letting all my emotions burst through the strong demeanour I was barely upholding. Steph rubbed her hands up and down my back. Suppressing a sniffle I entwined my hand with hers and followed her to Seth's room.

'Is he okay?' I asked my voice exhausted from the turmoil of emotions seeping through as Steph simply nodded her head tightening her grip on my hand. Alex trailed silently behind us as we approached his door. Steph pushed open the door as I walked in, nervousness bubbling in the pit of my stomach.

Seth was lying on the bed in a slightly upright position, one hand folded on his stomach and the other in a sling held against his chest. His dishevelled black hair peeked from the top of the bandage repeatedly wrapped around his head, while his face adorned a scar running the length of his cheekbone to his temple. At the sound of the door Seth turned to face us and I sucked in a sharp breath at the bruises on the other side of his face. Alex placed a comforting hand on my back as I slowly sat down on the edge of his bed with a small sigh. The room was silent for the next couple of minutes as if time stood still as we tried to process the situation.

'Seth what happened?' Alex's voice finally cut through the silence as Seth opened his mouth to say something but quickly decided against it.

'I walked across the road in a hurry and got hit, but it was because I wasn't paying any attention, its nothing serious...' he mumbled trailing of towards the end.

'Are you that stupid?' I let out an exasperated sigh on the verge of tears. Taking a shaky breath I walked towards the edge of his bed and engulfed him in a hug letting the tears flow. Today had been an emotional rollercoaster of a day, from Alex to Seth. I heard him groan and mumble something so I finally let go, wiping my tears and looked at his grinning face.

'What are you smiling about you idiot!' I slapped his good arm, 'You scared me to death, I hate you!' my voice came out broken as I glared at him.

'No you don't,' he smiled as my glare intensified before he continued, 'Sorry, I didn't mean to worry you, but I swear it will never happen again...I had some things on my mind but now...' suddenly his voice trailed of and his eyes widened and locked onto my hand.

'No way...' he gaped between me and Alex, his eyes flicking back and forth with shock, 'You...he...you...propose...wow.'

Alex let out a nervous laugh scratching the back of his head and walked closer putting a comforting hand on my shoulder, 'Guess I had to do it sometime right?' he shrugged, squeezing my shoulder lightly. I covered his hand with mine and smiled up at him.

'Awh man, I'm such a buzzkill,' Seth groaned covering his face with his free hand.

'Well yeah man, you totally did, you suck,' he chuckled, giving Seth a light punch in the shoulder, 'Anyway, you have to live with us until you get better.' At that suggestion Seth's' head snapped in our direction, as did mine.

'What do you mean? I can't do that, you guys just got engaged! I'm not a kid,' Seth reasoned, but was cut of as a disgruntled Steph walked into the room.
