•Riley's POV
I can't believe the council,I CANT FUCKING BELIEVE THEM RIGHT NOW. THIS WAS THE ONLY THING FRANK WAS LOOKING FORWARD TOO AND THEY SNATCHED THAT AWAY FROM HIM TOO. He runs out of the room and Liam mouths "I'm gonna go after him" to me and runs out as I sigh and bury my face in my hands.
"I don't want fwankie to be sad" Nina frowns
"I don't either" I mutter
Then suddenly I remembered something.
"Tobes?" I call over Toby
"Yeah?"
"Did you have any sort of memorial for your parents when they died?" I asked
"Well,we dedicated a bench to them and decorated it in the park where they first met" he answers
A smile makes its way up to my face, and so does everybody else's.That's exactly what we're gonna do for Frank's granddad.
"We could put it next to the lake where him and frank always went fishing!" Carmen says excitedly"Well what are we still standing around for?" And to every single one of us's surprise,it was Elektra who said that. I smile as two words form in my mind
"Character development." And saph smirks at me and seems to be thinking the same thing
"There's a bench in the back garden" Gus says•Liam's POV
I run after him and see him flop himself onto a bench and bury his face in his hands. Have I ever mentioned that I fucking hate the government?
"I'm sorry about the headstone." I say quietly as I sit down next to him. "How did you get the money anyway?" I ask
"I sold the pocket watch."
My face falls "what?" I say in disbelief
"I sold the pocket watch." He repeats.
"Oh come on frank not the watch" I groan
"A headstone would have proved that granddad existed. Who am I gonna leave the watch too? No one." He exclaims
"What're you talking about? Course you're gonna be able to leave it to someone" I say, confused but I know where this is going. Frank's always had self-esteem issues. Because of him being in care and his cerebral palsy,he's never thought of himself as good enough.
"I'm not! I'm a nothing like granddad." He lets out
"Frank your granddad was not a nothing" I say firmly
"They buried him rubbish like he didn't matter and didn't mean anything. That's what's gonna happen to me."
"Stop it frank. You do matter and so did your granddad and all the other Mathews. Going back to the first person who ever owned the watch." I exclaim with my fists curled in balls still at how mad the way the council has made my best friend feel.
"How many of us can say where we come from? Look you're not a nothing, and as long as you've got that watch, you'll know exactly who you are" I continue.
"But I haven't got the watch anymore" he sighs"Then what are we still sitting here for?"
Just then I get a notification from my phone and check and see it's a text from RileyFrom: My girl❤️👽
Leave the fucking garden and take frank anywhere other than the lake.I smile as I put my phone back in my pocket. If there's anyone who will find a way round the councils stupidness,it's her.
•Riley's POV
We checked the bench in the garden and err apparently it hasn't heard of balance or staying put or anything other than breaking. So,we're looking through the house to find things and improvise.
We've got everything we need, and thanks to Elektra being an amazing builder, we can start our "DIY Mathew memorial bench"•Tracy's POV
After the independence training with Saph,I realized that saph was right. I truly have no experience of independence or living on my own. I moved straight out of the dumping ground to live with cam. Which don't get me wrong,I love cam,the only mum I've ever had,but I think it's time for me to live on my own. Besides everyone moves out one day. I went to look at the available flats in the area but all of the were complete trash. Howeverrrr I did manage to get a car which I saw a bloke was selling on the way home
