They spent about an hour talking about Liam's lyrics and the rhythm he'd set for his songs. He only showed her the two that he had shown to his studio's producer-the third one was unfinished and messy for anyone to hear at the moment. Even though they hadn't talked in so long, conversation was natural cause-well,their topic was music. They'd literally managed to alter a pop song into working with Gus' piano skills years ago while they themselves were in perfect sync on their guitars and singing. So the music talk was deeply rooted in them and flowed back naturally no matter how much time had passed.
Riley was happy to give suggestions that Liam asked for-she even unknowingly helped him fill in some gaps of his third unfinished song. You see him being a singer and her being an author was brilliant-she gave him some synonyms for words that'd better fit his style of music, words that he hadn't even heard of which was hilarious to her.

•Riley's POV

After a heap load of discussion in which I forced him to quit talking down on what he'd come up with,we went back up to Nina and Jody's room with Frank since he didnt want anyone else hearing it except us two. It took a lot of bribing Jody with chocolate to get her to leave the room.
All three of us sat on my air mattress and Liam began singing.
His voice was beautiful-it had grown steadier and more harmonic since I'd last heard it. A smile crept onto my face when Liam sang a synonym I had told him instead of the original word he'd written in that line. Frank had heard the songs before being his best friend and all,so he was just enjoying it while looking out the window and humming along with Liam's voice. To think that a few hours ago the three of us had been in a coffee shop for a few minutes with Frank being the bridge and now, here we were up in my old bedroom enjoying Liam's music. It was almost like nothing had changed.

As soon as he finished Frank and I began clapping and whooping,except-we weren't the only ones. The door opened to every one of those nosy midgets cheering-of course they'd been standing outside listening the whole time. The old Liam would have chased them around the house for listening in-this one just laughed and threw one of Nina's toys at them. They ducked, and Liam got up-that's when they ran. Things had changed, but apparently hadn't changed enough that everyone ran away as quickly as possible at the prospect of Liam chasing them. He sat back down and Frank clapped him on the back as I exclaimed "That was brilliant!"
He smiled at us both and said "I actually feel like this could go somewhere"
"It will" Frank and I both said immediately. No way were any of us about to let that talent go to waste because of him doubting himself. If I ever came across Jack I sure as hell would be having a word with him.
"Outside looks a bit warmer, fancy heading to the park?"
"Sure" we agreed. We put on our coats and I switched the socks I had on for some thicker ones-it may have been warmer than before but it was still incredibly cold. We'd barely turned the street when Frank said "actually guys,I think I might go visit granddad. I haven't been to the cemetery in a while,I'll catch up with you two later." He turned around and left before we could say anything.
Damn you Frank Matthews,I thought to myself. Sure we'd spent ages alone, but we were talking about music, there were no gaps or pauses for awkward silences. Now we were walking in silence with our hands in our pockets. After a while Liam said with a slight grin
"I've read your book you know"
I looked up at him, very surprised.  "Seriously?"

"Well, seeing as I was the first person to hear about the idea in the first place, years before it was published for the rest of the world,I reckoned I had the right to check it out"

He remembered that??

"Oh not to mention,I was seeing it and hearing your name everywhere" he smirked as I rolled my eyes
"What did you think of it?" I asked, slightly anxious. I was always anxious when it came to asking people about my work,no matter how much positive feedback I'd heard from other people.
