Didnt see it coming || Liam O'donovan

Chapter twenty-seven

•Riley's POV
"LIAMM!!"  I Screamed as I quickly ran towards him and felt my heart rip into pieces and my eyes filled with tears as I shook him "Liam please wake up please" continuously as my tears fell onto his gorgeous now bloody face
"Hey what's going o-" frank says as he walks over but he stops dead in his tracks at the sight of his best friend bloody and unconscious on the floor and he quickly ran inside to get Mike
All the while I'm just sobbing begging him to wake up and I thank the lord and the heavens above when I find a pulse,but feel my heart drop again as I feel it getting weaker and weaker
"LIAM PLEASE WAKE UP IM BEGGING YOU"I scream not even able to describe the pain I feel at the sight of him
Just then Mike and Gina and Tracy come out and run over in shock as Gina calls an ambulance and soon everyone else runs out too
"Come on Riley let's get you inside he'll be okay" Tracy tries to lift me up but I just push her off
How can she even think I'll leave Liam's side for one second while he's like this
Thankfully the ambulance arrives and the paramedics lift him onto a stretcher and into the ambulance
"I'll go with him get everyone back inside" Mike murmurs to Gina
"You're hilarious if you think me and Ri aren't coming" frank glares at him as he wraps his arm round my shoulder and helps me get up
Mike just silently nods and we get in the ambulance and I sit down next to Liam with tears silently streaming down my eyes as I hold his hand gently with my own
"How did it happen?" One of the paramedics ask us
" I don't know we had just left home when he realized he had left his phone so I waited by the bus stop for him but when he was taking too long I decided to see what's taking him when I saw him collapsed and bloody on the floor with Riley holding him" frank murmurs quietly
"Did you see the cars number plate?" The paramedics asks me
"I was a bit too busy panicking over the fact that he got flipped over a car and was unconscious and hurt to notice the details of the damn car" I reply coldly
The rest of the ride is silent and when we arrive at the hospital they take him into an emergency room and leave us to wait outside
I slide onto the floor hiding my face as the tears keep falling
What if he won't make it? What if he'll be permanently injured? This wouldn't have even happened if my slow stupid ass had noticed his phone earlier and ran and given it to him before he would have to turn around and come get it himself
"He'll be okay" frank says quietly as he sits down next to me
"Liam's tough,he'll push through" Mike adds as he comes back with three glasses of water for us
I take the glass from him and my hands were shaking so bad that I spilt half of it
10 minutes later and the doctor comes out of the room
"How is he" Mike asks quickly
"He's lost a lot of blood. We don't have any O+ blood left in the blood bank is there anyone with O+ that could do a blood transfusion" the doctor rushes urgently
"I'm O+ take mine,take all you need" I quickly get up as I wipe my face
"Riley are you su-" Mike begins but I cut him off "yes Mike I'm sure" I roll my eyes
"It's a lot of blood Riley"
"So? I don't care as long as he'll be okay" I mutter as I go into the room with the doctor
I feel a sharp twinge of pain as I walk in and see Liam on the bed surrounded by so many doctors and wires and machines
He doesn't deserve this
"Lay down here. We'll put you under general anesthesia" the doctor says and I just nod silently as I lay down and feel my eyes slowly closing

•Author's POV/ Narrator
They made Riley unconscious before taking quite a lot of blood from her and getting started on Liam.
Outside a very anxious Mike and frank were soon joined by an anxious Tracy
"How is he" she asks quietly
"Still inside" Mike replies as he rubs his face
"Where's Riley?" She frowns noticing her absence
"He needed some blood and they didn't have any O+ left in the bank and she didn't even hesitate in saying she's gonna give her own" he replies
Just then the doctor comes out and they scramble up quickly
"He's going to be just fine" the doctor smiles and they all sigh in relief
"Is he awake?" Frank asks
"He's going to be unconscious for a couple of days but as I said,he'll be alright" the doctor replies
"Is Riley up?" Tracy asks
"Not yet"
"Do you know when she will be? Cause she hasn't had her pills today?" Tracy says
"What pills? People doing a blood transfusion aren't supposed to be on medical pills" the doctor says alarmed
"They're her anti depressants" Mike says
"Oh thank god" the doctor sighs in relief
"Can we go in and see them?" Frank asks
"Of course" the doctor replies before she walks back into her office and frank Mike and Tracy quickly rush in and see Liam and Riley both unconscious on beds next to each other and frank blinks his tears back furiously at the sight of his best friends in that way and Tracy rubs his arms as Mike sighs and sits down on a chair
An hour passes and Riley's eyes flutter open
"How're you feeling lovely" Mike asks her gently
Riley groans as she slowly sits up "is Liam okay" is the only thing she says not giving a damn about her migraine or anything else
"He'll be just fine" Tracy replied with a soft smile and Riley sighs in relief
She looks over at him sadly and gets up and sits beside him and holds his hand in her own
"What time is it?" She asks
"Around 5" frank replied
"Oh damn I told Gina I'd get her some onions in time for dinner I'll see you guys later" Tracy says as she dashes out the door
"There's a cafe downstairs I can go get you a drink if you want" Mike suggests
"No it's fine I'll go get one myself" Riley replies. Truth be told she didn't even want a drink she just needed a minute away for herself. It hurt too bad to look at her boyfriend in that broken state she didn't know how much longer she could stand it
As she got up her hand was about to leave Liam's when suddenly,she felt his hand grip her own

•Riley's POV
I was about to leave when suddenly I felt his hand grip my own tightly and I turned around in shock.
His eyes were still closed but his hand was tightly entwined with my own
"Liam" I whisper as I sit back down "please wake up" a few hot tears left my eyes and they fell onto his hand
I quickly wiped them off and I noticed his face fall into a frown
"We should probably tell the doctor that he at least moved" Mike says as he walks out the room to go fetch her
They walk back in and the doctor comes and examines him
"Are you his girlfriend?" She asks me and I just nod
"That'd be it then" she smiles "feeling your presence must have given him enough strength to try and make a motion. Stay close to him and fill the room with one of his favourite scents and play his favourite music often and he might wake up earlier than expected" she says
Frank and I make eye contact as we smile and both think of the same things
-Vanilla,shawn mendes,sound of his guitar,scent of warm coffee,sound of rain,and the smell of my perfume-
"We should probably go now kids,it's getting late we'll come see him again tomorrow"
"What you think I'm gonna leave him alone in this hospital?" I raise my eyebrows
"Ri come on the doctors will look after him we'll come back first thing tomorrow" frank says
I was about to argue but when I saw Frank's sad expression I sighed and agreed.
Frank's known Liam for way longer than I have. He's his best friend. I can tell he's trying really hard not to show emotion so when we go home I'll tell him to give himself some space
We get in the car and drive silently back home.
I don't even have dinner I just go straight upstairs into my room and close the door,not even bothering to turn the light on. I sit down on my bed and I turn and see a picture of me and Liam that lily secretly took of us during the picnic on my birthday.
I pick the picture up and burst into tears.

Liam please,I need you...
