Chapter nine

• Riley's POV
As soon as Liam ran off our social workers arrived. Looks like he escaped just in time. They decided to place Johnny and Tee with a family that do emergency foster care, Frank went to be with his granddad, Gus also went to an emergency foster placement,Toby got officially fostered,and the rest of us are getting carted off to burnywood. I still don't know anything about the place other than the fact that it's a carehome and that according to everyone here it's worse than a prison. I just hope they're being dramatic and over exaggerating. The car comes and the whole drive there I don't let go of Nina for a single moment. We arrive. Let's see how this goes.

Two weeks have gone by and how's it been going? Well Carmen had all her stuff nicked and got beaten up when she asked for it back which included in me getting in a fight defending her. Course I won but I got a slight bruise on my cheekbone. They tried to split me and Nina up but I put them through hell and they had to give up. Ninas been scared the whole time and will panic if she's without me or without Harry. Sapphire has been keeping Carmen company since she got her stuff nicked and will sometimes help back me up. So far I've gotten into 7 fights total. It's appalling that this place even gets called a carehome. There's this guy around my age that also lives here and his name is Rick. He's the only one here that isn't an ass and is good to have around for company. Right now I've just stepped out of the shower and I'm just staring at myself in the mirror. The redness of the scars on my arms are finally starring to fade a bit. And other than the first bruise on my cheekbone I've got a cut lip and a slight black eye and my left hand has been bandaged. It's all worth it though nina and Harry are just kids they shouldn't have to deal with any of this and carmen and saph are keeping to themselves which leaves it up to me to keep them safe.
2 days go by and finally they announce they've re opened ElmTree. We can finally get out of this place. As soon as we arrive Nina and Harry rush inside and jump into Gina's arms. Saph and carmen go inside too and I take a bit longer since I'm carrying both mine AND Nina's bags. I head inside and Gina immediately starts asking questions about what's happened to me and why I'm covered in bruises. I assure her everything's fine and she gives me a warm hug before heading into the kitchen to do Gus's paperwork. I head up to my room and flop onto my bed and just say there for 15 minutes till I feel a bit hungry so I decide to head down into the kitchen. I'm not really looking where I'm going and I accidentally bump into a tall figure. I look up and see frank and give him a hug and ask him how he is and how's his grandad. "I'm just glad to be back and grandads gotten worse"
"I'm sorry" I respond. He shrugs and smiles and walks off and straight after I bump into another figure. I look up and this time it's Liam.
"Woah how come you've become a panda" he asks referring to my black eye
"More like since when did I become a world war 3 soldier against burnywood idiots" I reply with an eye roll
"Damn and I thought my week on the run was tough" he jokes and I smack his shoulder as we head down to the kitchen. We walk in and see Mike and that Lianne lady. Me and Liam both glare at her as i go give Mike a hug. Since me and Nina have been here he's been like a proper dad to us. I ask Mike "how's lily"
"She's still in hospital" he responds as he ruffles my hair
"Can we go visit her?" I ask
Mikes about to respond but that Lianne cowbag interrupts " I think it'd be more appropriate for Gina to deal with this"
"DID I ask you?" I snapped. The woman first kicks us off to burnywood with her council buddies and they sack Mike. Now she's here supposedly writing a report for mikes hearing tomorrow. HOW is it even his fault that lily fell off the roof.
I turn back to Mike and he says "well there'd be no point in going since she's getting discharged today" he smiled. Thank god. I open the cupboard and throw a chocolate bar to Liam and get one for myself. Johnny walks in and he talks to Mike about how the people that looked after him and Tee said they liked them and that they could say.Turns out he had just misunderstood and they had said (we'd be happy to have you back anytime for emergency foster placements) he seemed put down. I know how important it is to him that he and tee get fostered together. I feel bad for him and call him over "Hey Johnny wanna play a game of footie in the garden?" "Yeah I suppose" he says glumly I turn over to Liam and ask "coming?"
"Nah I'm good thanks I'm gonna go chill with frank"
