Becky sighed as she turned off her alarm clock. It was eight o'clock on a Monday and today would mostly be spent unpacking as it was only her second day in her new house. She was, unfortunately starting school the next day, but she managed to convince her father that she should spend the Monday unpacking and getting used to the area.
So, she did not really have a choice but to spend the day unpacking seen as that was the deal. "Becky get out of bed!" Becky's older sister Ellie said, walking into the room.
"I'm coming" Becky muttered in annoyance.
"What do you want for breakfast? Dad's making Bacon, sausages and eggs" Ellie informed her, looking hopeful.
"I'm not hungry" Becky said with a sigh, looking at Ellie.
"You need to eat Becky. This is a fresh start, please don't go back down that road" Ellie pleaded.
"I'm just not hungry. If it is that big of a deal, I'll have some toast"
"Okay" Ellie said with a sigh, closing the door behind her.
Becky sighed as she looked into her full-length mirror. She had brown hair going to mid-waist and dull green eyes. But her face was too chubby and in general she still wanted to lose weight.
Becky had never been bullied really, but her sister Ellie liked girls and Becky often stood up for her when people were horrible to her. Ellie was starting university next week but was still living at home because she wanted to be close to her family.
Becky was fairly certain that it was mainly to keep an eye on her. In order to defend Ellie, Becky had been in fights before and when their mother left them Becky had somehow developed an eating disorder. After a long night in hospital and practically been scrutinized at home for a month Becky was pretending to eat only to throw it up later on; her body dysmorphia and anorexia made her think that she was in fat, when in fact she was dangerously underweight.
Now, Becky could not even get away with not eating breakfast without a long lecture.
Becky threw on a big grey jumper and some black leggings before making her way downstairs.
"Becky! I made you toast and got you a bowl of cereal. It's on the table, would you like a drink?" Her dad asked enthusiastically whilst Becky fought a grimace knowing full well that she would not be able to eat all that.
"Thanks dad, just some waters fine" Becky replied. Becky could not help but feel bad for her dad. He always did his best for her and Ellie and had been heartbroken when he found out about Becky's eating disorder, blaming himself for not seeing the signs. After seeing her dad cry next to her hospital bed Becky promised herself that she would never let him see her like that again.
"Okay, let me know if you want anything else to eat. I made loads of food just in case you are still hungry. I have packed you a lunch for school tomorrow too, but if you want some money for food that's fine. Just make sure to take a picture of your food" her dad rambled.
That had been the deal, that when Becky was not home, she had to send pictures of her food so that he knew that she was eating. It was frustrating, and it was frustrating that he made her a pack lunch when she was almost eighteen, but she understood, and so she tried to grin and bear it.
"Thankyou" Becky said before sitting at the table and nibbling on her enormous breakfast, breaking it apart slightly.
"So, Becky, are you excited for school tomorrow?" Ellie asked her.
"No"
"Do you think that you'll make some friends? Hey maybe you'll enjoy school here" Ellie said, remaining positive as always.
"Please, everyone else my age just seems to be judgmental arseholes. And I cannot be bothered with friends, they are too much effort" Becky replied with an eye roll.
"Don't be so negative. You are beautiful and kind everyone is going to love you. I can't wait to start university here it seems like an amazing place" Ellie replied, smiling as she thought about the uni that she had recently went to for an open day.
"That's easy for you to say, you're beautiful" Becky said with a sigh.
Ellie was stunning with ginger hair flowing down to her waist and kind blue eyes. She also had a great figure and looked absolutely nothing like Becky. Becky, however looked like her mum whereas Ellie resembled their dad.
"You're beautiful too though Becky. I just wish that you could see it"
"Whatever" Becky muttered, throwing her food in the bin after only one piece of toast. "I need to get my uniform and bag ready for school tomorrow"
"Try to avoid fights this year Becks" their father suggested, joining the girls again in the kitchen. "I don't want to hear about you starting fights or trouble unless it's a good reason"
"What classes as a good reason?" Becky asked with a scoff. The truth was that Becky had never really been disciplined for getting into fights, mostly because they were all in her sister's defence.
Her dad grinned "well, if anyone talks shit about you, I won't get annoyed at you for defending yourself. If you see other people getting bullied though, just tell a teacher"
Becky scoffed again. "I won't just stand back and watch if I see other people getting hurt. You know me better than that dad"
"Well just try stay away from teachers. I could do without all the trouble and been told that I'm a bad parent" her dad agreed with a sigh.
Becky rolled her eyes. She really hoped that she could stay out of trouble this year, because honestly, she did not need anything else negative on her file for when she applied for universities. However, she was not one to just stand back if she saw something unfair, so hopefully the school would just be full of people that weren't full of shit for once.
