Cassandra Blake
Cassie woke up on a ward. She was laying on an extremely uncomfortable hospital bed, with curtains surrounding the bed. She shook her head in confusion and looked around, noticing that she was hooked up to some kind of machine with a needle in her arm.
Cassie stared at the needle in fear, and looked around her bed frantically, till she found a button. She pressed it, hoping for someone to tell her what was going to happen now.
Cassie was not sure what the procedure was exactly, but she knew that she wouldn't be going back to Liam.
A nurse opened the curtain in front of her, and Cassie realised that there were multiple beds opposite and some curtains were closed. There was a boy in the bed opposite her who looked utterly fed up. He had bandages on his arm, and his green eyes looked dull and lifeless as he stared in her direction with a frown.
The nurse snapped Cassie out of her trance. "Oh, you're awake" she said with a smile.
Cassie stared blankly at her. The nurse had blue scrubs on and ginger hair in a ponytail. She had kind blue eyes and a heart shaped face. Still, despite her obvious kind nature Cassie could not bring herself to smile. She felt numb again.
"What's wrong with me?" Cassie asked bluntly.
The nurse smiled. "I am Doctor Kennedy and I've been looking after you. You have been in a coma for nine days and you have a fractured rib, hence the bandages. You also have some eternal bleeding and are recovering from multiple bruises and cuts" she explained.
"How long do I have to be here?" Cassie asked with a frown. It sounded like it would not be for a while with that list and she didn't really want to miss much school if possible.
"A couple of weeks at the very least. You are still recovering from multiple injuries and you are dangerously underweight, so we want to keep an eye on you. You will probably be moved into a different ward when your condition becomes less severe. Now that you are awake, the police might want to question you, and you will also be having a mental health assessment by one of our mental health team within the next week" she explained.
"Great" Cassie muttered sarcastically.
Doctor Kennedy smiled and proceeded to check the machine and write a few things down on her clipboard. She then said goodbye to Cassie and walked off somewhere, leaving the curtains open behind her much to Cassie's annoyance.
She stood up with difficulty went to close them sending one last look to the boy opposite her who was still staring off into space. Cassie hesitated for a moment before asking "are you okay?"
He seemed to snap out of his trance and looked at her with a scowl. "If I were, I wouldn't be, here would I?" He snapped at her.
"S-sorry" she stuttered back. She was a little bit annoyed that he was being so rude when all that she had done was ask if he were alright.
The boy rolled his eyes at her before standing up and walking towards her, causing Cassie to freeze. She really did not want to be close to any males in anyway whatsoever after what had happened.
"Sorry. I just don't really like being around people at the moment" he apologized with a sigh. "I'm Cade. What's your name?"
"Cassie" she replied, flinching back slightly as he stepped closer.
His eyes scanned her with a frown "what happened to you?"
"I could ask you the same thing" she shot back. She knew that she must be a sight for sore eyes, with a hospital gown on her and bruises, bandages and scars covering her body. She also knew that she must look tiny to him, considering how skinny she was and how short.
