Lucinda Evans

Lucinda ran to the girl's toilets, ignoring the stares of her peers.

She was a horrible excuse of a human and she knew that everything Cassie said about her was true. She had made Cassie Blake's life hell and for what? Revenge? It wasn't her fault that her father had died.

For years, Lucinda wanted someone to blame for losing the one person that had loved her unconditionally, and since Cassie was the only survivor of the car crash, she had chosen her. Somewhere she had forgotten that Cassie also lost her mother and had been hurt in the crash.

By the time that Cassie returned to school, Lucinda had turned the whole school against her. Lucinda had turned into a monster, and against her own sister at that.

Lucinda felt herself having a panic attack as she thought back to every horrible thing that she had ever done to Cassie, who was clearly innocent in everything.

Someone barging into the toilets startled her, and she jumped up from where she stood in front of the sink.

"Lucinda, what the hell was that?" Blaise Michael asked, her face red with anger.

Leah, who stood at the other side of Blaise didn't look quite as concerned as she glanced down at her nails, not even bothering to ask if Lucinda was okay.

Lucinda counted to five and took deep breathes in order to calm herself down. "What was what?"

"Why did you ask us all to leave and why on earth are you crying? What did that bitch say to you?" Blaise asked. She had always been very protective of Lucinda.

"She didn't say anything and don't talk to her like that!" Lucinda shouted.

Blaise took a step back and even Leah looked up in surprise. "What the hell?" Leah said with raised eyebrows.

Lucinda took a deep breathe. "Cassie never did anything to us. I think that we should leave her alone"

"She's the reason that your dad is dead Lucinda" Blaise argued, still believing what Lucinda had told her when they were only eight years old.

"No, she's not! The drunk driver that hit that car is the reason that he's dead. I'm sorry that I never told you, but Cassie's mum died that day too Blaise. I'm horrible, I can't believe that I was so blind for so long"

Surprise shone in Blaise's eyes, but still she stepped forward and hugged Lucinda. Leah stood near the door, staring at the two in confusion.

"If you want to leave her alone than that's fine, we will. But you're not a bad person Lucinda, and I never liked Cassie anyway" Blaise commented.

Lucinda rolled her eyes, knowing that there was no way that she could change her mind. Cassie had never done anything to any of them and Lucinda knew with all of her heart that Cassie was a good person. Lucinda was the one who had been a bad person, but hopefully this was a small step towards becoming better.

"Thanks Blaise" Lucinda said with a small smile.

Later, that day Lucinda arrived home to an empty house.

None of her friends had ever been to her small, two-bedroom bungalow because it was old and a mess. It was where they had lived since Lucinda's father died and her mother turned to drugs and random men for comfort.

Lucinda made her way into her room, pushing her chair in front of her door to prevent people from coming in; she didn't have a lock on her door or any means of getting one and sometimes the men that her mother entertained where a little bit too friendly with her. Lucinda had learnt the hard way to stay out of their way.

With a sigh, she picked up her phone, smiling to see a text message from her boyfriend asking her to call him.

Cade was beautiful and they had met at a party at Leah's house two months ago. He was tall with black hair, green eyes, and a handsome smile. They hadn't seen each other in person since the party but they had face timed and Cade had asked her to be his girlfriend.

Lucinda had felt special because from what she knew about him, he didn't really like people and very rarely made an effort to speak to anyone.

"Hi Cade" she greeted once he answered.

"Hi" he said, sounding bored. "Could we see each other on Tuesday night?" He asked her.

Lucinda grinned childishly and felt herself getting nervous. "Um sure, what do you want to do?" She asked, barely refraining from screaming in excitement.

"Let's just go out for food or something. I need to talk to you about something"

"Should I be worried?"

"No, not at all. It's just that we haven't seen each other since the party and considering that you're my girlfriend now I think that we should go out together more" he explained.

"I'd love that" Lucinda agreed quickly.

"Cool. I have to go now, but I'll talk to you tomorrow. Bye beautiful"

Lucinda grinned as he hung up, wondering how she was so lucky to have someone like him. Considering all the bad that she had done to Cassie she didn't really deserve him. Still, she was going to try and make things better and be the girl that he did deserve.

With that thought, Lucinda went to sleep with a smile on her face.
