Chapter 34

Poseidon POV

As I am heading towards Polybotes with Annabeth keeping stride with me step by step, both of us with our weapons drawn ready, I notice he suddenly stops moving before he turns around slowly backs away towards where he originally came from.

I stop myself and Annabeth from moving any further forward in case he was baiting us,  I continue to watch him and everyone else in confusion as they all move back to their side as a silence filters over the battleground.  I notice that two cloaked figures are currently standing in no mans land with no armour on, I can sense the powers radiating coming off the pair along with a scent of the sea also been mixed in it.

As I join the rest of the Gods watching,  both figures reach inside their cloaks and pull out their respective weapons, one was holding a sword that looks very familiar and the other was carrying a metal baseball bat. I can hear whispers radiating from all over the battle field before it was broken by the sound of  laughter coming from the opposite side as Tartarus finally steps to the front of his assembled army.

"Well, will you look who we have here! All put back together again!! Polybotes, go finish them off and this time make sure it is permanent." Tartarus shouts confusing me as I try and work out who it could be.

In the back of my mind I have a sudden feeling of hope appear but quickly shaking it off knowing it wasn't possible. I grip my sword tighter as I prepare myself to assist the two cloaked men, who even though have a full grown Giant charging towards them aren't making any movements to prepare themselves.

I watch as the one with the sword disappears and reappears behind the charging Giant, as the one with the bat takes a step back, planting his feet firmly in the ground and prepares his arm ready to swing his bat at Polybotes. I watch in amazement as even with a Giant running at full speed towards him the cloaked person was able to perfectly able to swing his bat, hitting him squarely in the chest sending him flying backwards towards the other one waiting to finish him with a single swing of his sword.

Gasps ring out from all over at what everyone had just witnessed, as they rejoin each other they both face Tartarus with their weapons swinging in circles, as the ground starts shaking and cracking apart as Hades finally arrives on his chariot with soldiers accompanying him.

"I'm not late, am I?" He asks before getting off his chariot and joining us while his eyes seem to sweep over the battleground before his eyes landed on the duo.

"Perfect timing as always brother!" I chuckle and grasp his arm grateful he is here and has brought help with him.

"We are sorry, were you not expecting that to happen?" The two cloaked men spoke at the same time in perfect unison.

"You are going to pay for that with your lives and the lives of those you love. Attack!!!" Tartarus shouts as he runs towards the duo who just take a casual step back and snap their armour onto their body as the one with the bat starts swinging it in circles before smashing it into the ground sending  vibrations through the ground opening craters everywhere causing some to fall through.

"Attack!" I scream running forward and hear a roar behind me in response before I am followed by the sound of thundering footsteps, I watch as the two cloaked figures split in different directions, one towards us and the other towards Scott, Lydia and his friends and the seven.

As I got shoulder to shoulder with the cloaked figure with the sword I noticed the smell of the sea and a pull towards him getting stronger and I knew who was under the cloak but I just didn't  right know how.
